How cool is this? bsky.app/profile/anil...

Anil Dash@anildash.com

So cool! Prince *loved* libraries. For example, this is one donation he made from his charity a few days after 9/11 to save the Louisville Free Public Library, the first library in the community to serve African Americans.

Assata Shakur joins the ancestors a free woman. She did not die bound by the carceral system and she did not pass away living in a land that never respected or accepted her. Assata taught us that liberation can not be bargained for, it must be taken. Rest Free, Assata.

People who think the imposition of fascism on a (at least in their imaginations) Black city isn’t the actual front line of the current political battle are telling on themselves.

I am begging y'all to stop calling the militarization of a major city a "distraction". If *YOU* would rather think about Epstein--- and not about the forced mass displacement of human beings--- then just say that.

Today, the president foreshadowed that if these heavy-handed tactics take root in D.C., they will be rolled out to other majority-Black and Brown cities, like Chicago, Oakland and Baltimore, across the country. That should alarm everyone, not just Washingtonians.

Some advice on activism and feeling less helpless: You probably cannot make a big change by yourself. That's okay. Find a thing you can do--either joining an existing thing or starting something small that you can sustain with resources you have--and start there.

Democrats should boycott the State of the Union. Democrats keep calling this man a unique and dangerous threat, but never ACT like it. For once, Democrats' *actions* should match their words. My latest in @thenation.com www.thenation.com/article/poli...

Black X'ers got their own shit with them, I know. I'm starting to believe some things are escapable in middle-aged demos, but we would very much like to be removed from the white gen-x narrative.

The Trump Administration wants to undo generations of progress in addressing racial discrimination against Black people. No matter what, we will always fight for a version of “We the People” that includes everyone.

Begging y'all to stop posting racist tweets from racists on here. No one needs to know what they're saying. We left that hell hole to get away from all that.

This is not just a musing from a dude with some various ideas. The next step is to hollow out the judiciary and also not follow their rulings, which have been against Musk’s efforts. This is a very obvious coup, for those not paying attention.

I also want to emphasize: the informal tools we have at our disposal to address the threat Musk presents to this country are extremely viable. Musk's power derives almost entirely from Tesla, which is highly vulnerable to boycott, divestment, and sanctions of all kinds. We have to embrace that power

With Trump + the NFL likely to turn today’s Super Bowl into at least some degree of fascist spectacle, it’s worth remembering Colin Kaepernick (@kaepernick7.bsky.social) literally gave up his career to challenge the regime’s white supremacist project the first time around. Solidarity to the GOAT.

Trump just issued an executive order titled: ADDRESSING EGREGIOUS ACTIONS OF THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA It says "the United States shall promote the resettlement of Afrikaner refugees escaping government-sponsored race-based discrimination, including racially discriminatory property confiscation"

I want people to understand this. For many of them, democracy ended when Obama was elected twice and Black Lives Matter rose to prominence. This is them “fixing” a system that felt broken and newly unsafe to them.

Drucati@bananarepublicans.bsky.social

What we all seemingly failed to understand is just how many of our "countrymen" were perfectly willing to resort to treason to end democracy. And all in service of a convicted felon and lifelong conman who wasn't even very good at it.

The death penalty is inhumane, racist, immoral, and deeply flawed. Before he leaves office, Biden must commute the sentences of those on federal death row.

You are up to date.
