My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

When I was little, I grew up watching reruns of Star Trek with my grandfather. We bonded over it and got to where we knew many of the lines. Each time one of the TOS crew passed, we felt the loss against those memories. Rest in peace Walter and thanks. www.startrek.com/news/best-of...
