Half my feed is celebrating election wins and saying 'look there's hope!!' and the other half is quoting the Mayer AI 3-words-about-my-daughter piece and saying 'look we're doomed!!'

Initially read this as "nuclear lifestyle innovation campus" and was trying to imagine what sort of innovations this admin might support

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

West Virginia officials didn’t consult residents or officials on their proposal to host a “Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campus” for the Trump administration. What happened in the state left communities bewildered and the nuclear waste problem unresolved. https://wapo.st/47viZuG

sir you are driving a Big Rugged Manly Truck with extra-knobby tires and bonus Big Rugged roll bars, why are you swerving to avoid every manhole cover on this street

Leela: Didn’t you place bets in the 20th century? Fry: Well sure, but not on our elections. Only on TV and radio. And on sports. And movies. And on ball games and on buses and military actions and t-shirts and on political coups. But not on elections. No siree!

Very grateful that this hotel bar of soap comes with instructions -- apparently I'm supposed to gently massage my skin to create a cleansing lather, then rinse it off?? Explains a lot

Today in misdirected email: Margaret, your order of a six pack of 'rechargable' wax candles is on its way. (maybe it is just a bad translation from Swedish but I am curious about rechargeable candles)

"Sometimes our steamroller just goes rogue and drives down the city sidewalk on its own. Oopsies!" "Sometimes our new chemical just goes rogue and dissolves everything into goo. You know how it is." "Sometimes our microwave oven goes rogue and decides to emit neutron radiation instead. Oh well!"

TIL: if you end up with several trays of French toast after an event, 2 slices of cold French toast make for a pretty great peanut butter sandwich. #themoreyouknow

Your honor, since it appears that companies can get away with crimes by saying they were done by rogue AI agents, I would note that every browser company is shoving AI into their products so when I use a browser to commit fraud I am really just a rogue AI agent agent and cannot be blamed

Dear publicist- while I of course totally trust your judgement, sending an invite to a book launch event with no mention of what the book is, who the author is, or even a topic area feels like it could use some clarification?

From my childhood reading/viewing, I was given to understand that there would be SO MANY children/teens going around solving mysteries. Like, all the time. Where are the young detectives I was promised

TIL: there is a specific word for the leafy stems and other aboveground parts of a potato plant (also used for beanstalks and the leafy bits of pea plants etc): HAULM

Uncanny valley: called the phone company and their robot voice read my number back to me as 3 digits- 4 digits - 3 digits YOU ARE THE PHONE COMPANY, SURELY YOU HAVE EXAMPLES OF HUMANS READING NORMAL US PHONE NUMBERS

I got my flu shot yesterday. Often they make me feel kind of meh afterwards, but I feel completely fine. EXCEPT - the injection site is hot enough to cook pancakes on. I can feel the heat through 2 layers of clothing. The immune system is so weird

Yesterday when searching for a family tree of bat species, Google would not stop giving me information about Batman and his associates, but yes let's all call this 'Super Intelligence,' why not

Sunnyfields Farm in Britain broke its own Guinness World Record with a giant squash mosaic of David Attenborough. The artwork measured more than 2,350 square feet and broke the farm’s previous record, which was held by its 2025 mosaic of Ozzy Osbourne.

At the string request of the United States military, and for national security purposes, I have agreed to convert the torch in the Statue of Liberty to an AI-powered flamethrower

If "artificial intelligence" is allowed to slurp down every song, every book, every movie for training purposes surely I, a real intelligence, should be able to swap a couple albums I liked online *this is not a real argument, do not argue here

We have also seen alarming reports that as weather gets colder, people have been noticing similar effects when they breathe outdoors. Mouthchemtrails, we're calling them

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

RFK Jr: "We are also looking at chemtrails"

Missed a chance to use "You may tell yourself, 'This is not my beautiful house!'"

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

If you’ve ever walked into your house and thought, “Why doesn’t this feel right?” the answer might be to seek a house therapist. “House therapy” combines elements of interior design, professional organizing and household management. https://wapo.st/4r7sqJL

I walk into the drugstore. Clerk: where did you park? Me: um, in the lot? Clerk: they're paving today. Me: there's no cones or signs Clerk: they said it might be today Me: ok, well they're not there now and I'm just picking up a script, I'll be gone in 5 Next customer walks in Clerk: where...

Many people suggested changing the name of Mar-a-lago to Mar-a-merica

Matt Novak@paleofuture.bsky.social

Trump: “Many people suggested changing the name of New Mexico, one of the great vote cheating states of all time, to NEW AMERICA. So much more prestigious and beautiful for the people of that potentially incredible State.”

Somehow given the armor plating my brain had filed armadillos under 'slow.' Mr. Wilson here is... Not slow.

What do you name an animal that can assume the shape & size of a volleyball? If you're the San Antonio Zoo, you name them WILSON. Wilson is a southern three-banded armadillo (Tolypeutes matacus), the only genus of 'dillo that can actually roll into a ball. (📷: San Antonio Zoo via FB&IG)

Mystery: neighbors have been storing a car (newish looking Honda van) in their driveway for several weeks while its owners are overseas. Last night one window fully opened by all itself. Car still locked, all other windows up. ????
