Really wondering how zombie Mitch McConnell isn’t trending right now. Seriously, how is it possible that no one has walked into that hospital room to deliver a tray to a dead guy and then realized they could make a couple of tens of thousands of dollars off leaking the deadness?

Is it burn out or being honest? When I have to justify changing an order so the insurance will cover it, I tell the truth. “Insurance company prefers more complicated dosing regimen” “insurance company prefers to wait until she actually has diabetes before treating her obesity.” 🩺

Being a primary care provider in the current US health system is demoralizing. Insurance cos are making it nearly impossible to care for patients effectively. We can blame attrition on admin or EMRs, but the villain is the insurance industry and its chokehold on our elected leaders. #singlepayernow

Why doesn’t anyone want to work in primary care? So far this morning I have been blamed for insurance denying a med I have worked to get approved, insurer “approved” a med a patient needs to stay alive but will cost more than $700, because the soonest someone can see specialist is 2027.

The richest Americans saw their net worth soar 120% from 2017 to 2025. The top 1% now control $55.8 trillion in assets — more than the G.D.P. of the United States and China combined. Meanwhile, millions of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. Still wondering if inequality is out of control?

A call to action for all of us. RIP Jesse Jackson.

Barack Obama@barackobama.bsky.social

Reverend Jesse Jackson called on each of us to be heralds of change, to be messengers of hope; to step forward and say “Send me” wherever we have a chance to make an impact. How fortunate we were that Jesse Jackson answered that call. What a great debt we owe to him.

We must stop tinkering around the edges of a broken healthcare system. Yes, let's extend the ACA tax credits to prevent a huge spike in healthcare costs for millions. Then, let's finally create a system that puts your health over corporate profits. We need Medicare for All.

Medicare for All would save $450B a year. Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity. Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall. It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford. It’s about priorities.

Primary care has become a litany of miseries: can’t afford food, can’t afford rent, can’t afford insurance, can’t afford medicine, afraid to be deported, afraid to be LGBTQ+, anxiety, depression, not sleeping, specialists not available for 12 mos. If it weren’t for Lexapro…
