escan2026.euHome - ESCAN 2026ESCAN 2026 is the 9th ESCAN Conference, the biennial meeting of the European Society for Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience.

We have a new visiting research intern! Yuanqi (Phin) Gu, who is a MA student at the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, will stay at CAPLAB for 6 months to investigate the neural dynamics underlying attention flexibility. Welcome to Ghent!

We have a new research intern, Pauline Maelfait! Durng her internship, she will examine how motivational factors influence attention during attention-focused tasks, combining behavioural and EEG methods.

It has been our real pleasure to host Kamela Cenka at CAPLAB. We enjoyed her smile, curiosity and trust in mirror neurons, neuroplasticity and DMN ;-) We hope that our paths will soon cross again. Meanwhile, we wish Kamela all the best for what comes next, including a PhD defence in 2026 in Bologna!

Is it valence, or is it expectancy? Within the #EEGManyLabs project, across 13 labs we aimed to replicate Hajcak et al. (2005) findings on FRN & P300 modulation during feedback processing. Check the outcomes of this replication just published in Cortex!!

With a neural network model, we show that you need multiple, distractor-specific conflict monitors.

As part of #EEGManyLabs project, a network of collaborators will attempt to replicate Hajcak and Foti’s (2008) findings on the ERN and defensive motivation. Check the preprint: Revisiting Defensive Motivation and the Error-Related Negativity: A Multi-Site Replication Study osf.io/preprints/ps...
