The thing is portions of cared *a lot* about the way factory work went I grew up in the West Virginia Rust Belt. Have written many articles about deindustrialization. We cared. This is why I find it darkly funny when knowledge workers on here still make fun of ppl fucked by deindustrialization.
This has already been going on in the arts, basically since Dall-e 2. Could be wrong, but I suspect the general public cares about as much as they did as most factory work was automated away in the last 50 years.
