Me + my first scroll, “Hexagram 48 (The Source)”. Features 120 dreams from visitors of past installations. Inspired by the I Ching: “The rope must go down all the way into the well if you want to draw fresh water.” In a group exhibit at the Riffe Gallery in Columbus, Oct 31, 2026—Jan 8, 2027.

“Before I die I want to… grow old with love, apologize to my husband, see the leaders wake up, collect many flowers, see the lighthouse again, plant an oak, see a peaceful sky,” from this lovely double-sided wall in Šiauliai, Lithuania, thanks to Gintautas Jazdauskas and Šiauliai Tech. ✨

Let us start a practice called Leaf Petting. Drop your robots and pet a leaf. Feel it like a palm reading. Hear its folk tales on suppleness, death, embodiment, basics. Thank it for this moment of private devotion. Seize the chance to train with a leaf!

I got to hold a cartoon check with @jamesreeves.co! First place for our Nightly News film. It features people’s dreams and will play in the Columbus Convention Center for years, weirding out people on their way to conferences.

Thirteenth expedition?

Last night our Middle Western Book Club dug into the second installment of @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social’s Southern Reach series. @candychang.com’s life-affirming peanut noodles kept our spirits up while we discussed metaphors for living in the midst of collapse.

30,000 years ago someone carved this woman known as the Venus of Willendorf. Was it for fertility, desire, or by a lady looking down and sculpting herself? @jamesreeves.co and I visited Vienna to see her in person. In the modern style I also contemplate her via tank top + candle thanks to friends. ✨

From Taipei to Columbus: I can make my own hanging canvas scrolls now! Thanks to grants from Asian Cultural Council, Ohio Arts Council, Greater Columbus Arts Council, + scroll master Wu Ting Wei and woodworker Brian Banks. ✨

1,440 unique handwritten bits form a binary translation of Taoist philosopher Zhuangzi on the potentials and limitations of language. This is also how I obtained 3 months of back pain.

I was aiming for something that feels like sinking into the soft ground of a dream. When I played it for C, she made groovy far-out hand gestures. www.jamesreeves.co/dream-theory/

Starring Pink Floyd, Mika Vainio, Spiritualized, a pair of Seefeel remixes, a dash of Springsteen, and murmuring.

Has Saint Jerome ever been sexier? Catch me frisky for devotion. “Vision of Saint Jerome” by Guido Cagnacci, ~1659. Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna, Austria.

Arranging reflections on relationships into a permanent public artwork. Dedicated to fleeing from our lonely self-absorption vortexes and towards our edifying relations with others. Inspired by the natural forces at the heart of this neighborhood + the infinite wisdom of the I Ching, Hexagram 8. 😎

Share your anxieties, hopes, horrors, and pleasures around relationships in this quick installation I made at the Dublin branch library in metro Columbus, Ohio. Many responses will be included in a permanent public artwork installed in the area next year. Here until May 15!

You are up to date.
