This aired just the once in 1998 on the live SNL show for which McKay wrote it.
It was effectively banned as it never aired again.
I wonder why.
MEDIA-OPOLY
You'd think the fact that the son of the President of the "party of family values" 2nd marriage is to the daughter of Epstein's banker and it was funded by a Rusisan oligarch involved in the mass kidnap of Ukrainian kids during a KGB agent's illegal war
Would be bigger news..
Your regular reminder: If the Russians stop fighting, the war ends. If the Ukrainians stop fighting, their land will be occupied, their leaders will be killed, their history and language will be erased, their children will be kidnapped to serve Russia.
In the 25 years since 9/11, the United States has spent $8 trillion+ on wars that have taken millions of lives in the name of fighting "terror."
Can you imagine if we had instead invested those funds here on climate, health care, housing, and education?
If Sam Altman, Dario Amodei, and Elon Musk all agree that we have to slow down - and now - something serious clearly happened with a frontier AI model.
Journalists should be digging in to this. We aren’t getting the whole story here.
If only there were a law that said: "Whoever makes or offers to make an expenditure to any person, either to vote or withhold his vote, or to vote for or against any candidate Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned"
We could call it 18 U.S. Code § 597 - Expenditures to influence voting
The tax rate for the richest was much higher when the middle class was strongest
It was much higher even under Reagan
But now they want you to behave raising taxes on the rich is “COmMuNiSm” ?
Bottom line: They think we’re all idiots
Uber just announced it will lay off 10% of its workforce, or around 3,300 workers.
Last year, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi made $35M — 360 times his median employee's pay — and announced a $20B stock buyback program to further enrich shareholders and himself.
Textbook corporate greed.
We are projected to spend $268 BILLION on deportations — costing the average American taxpayer about $2,358 (according to
@epi.org).
But somehow we “can’t afford” to make sure hungry children can eat or ensure everyone, no matter their income, can access healthcare.
Priorities.
The Pentagon influencer scandal keeps getting bigger.
More partisan online personalities. More government jobs. More taxpayer money.
Who hired them, what are they being paid to do, and are military officers violating the UCMJ?
This deserves answers.
Alex Pretti's Father: "That's how we found out — watching it on TV. Watching our son be shot 10 times on TV, in the back, trying to help somebody…with a camera in one hand, and his left hand empty in the air."
Me, for 20yrs: food shortages in modern times have nothing to do w/ population and rarely have to do w/ cultivation. They are overwhelmingly about the precarity of food distribution systems. Under fascism, incompetence is weaponized to break our food systems. Food crises/ famines are manufactured.
I mean, seriously. Were there politicians back in 1945 who thought "Yeah we should just reform the Schutzstaffel. It would be politically foolish to say we should defund or abolish them. I bet we can reign them in by re-writing laws that already exist. I'm sure they'll follow them this time."
When you hear the US has a trillion dollar military budget it sounds terrifying and invincible
But then you realise all that money is just being embezzled by defence contractors and corrupt politicians
And the truth is, the US military is incredibly brittle and its morale is collapsing in realtime
They use fear mongering and lies to get into office. When was the last time they actually followed-through with the promises they made? They only know how to wreak havoc and sow hatred. I'm so fucking sick of this shit 🤬
There are priorities, and then there are *PRIORITIES*.
This current regime is actively destroying our own country AND much of the rest of the world. We need to fix that first. We can't do anything for anyone else if we are this broken.
