There's a good book about this in general: Complexity by M Mitchell Waldrop All code is part of a random Cambrian explosion of complexity, and the outcomes we've experienced so far are just one way of doing things. Don't over index on what's come before or you'll be stuck with local maximums
A press release was published www.pingcap.com/trust-hub/se...
Oh gosh fulcrumsec.vg/pingcap/

ok once you self-host your orbs then amp has the juice, really been enjoying it so far
I want to like amp but as a single dev I just have a hard time swallowing the additional cloud spend to run orbs when I have several very powerful (and not very powerful!) machines at home, with a variety of ISAs and OSes (which matters for my project)

If you're a railway customer, you need to jump on this immediately. "We strongly recommend that you immediately roll all environment variables, including any API keys, stored in Railway" blog.railway.com/p/security-d...
cc @hailey.at if you haven't tried amp orbs you might like them as cloud machines
I'm gonna be running these again in the future for sure, but they'll be harder and I expect more of candidates The point of the task is literally to see someone use and talk about computers. The point is not to fix all issues It's crazy how many SWEs don't know how computers work
we used to conduct an interview where you had to log in to a linux VM that we’d “pre-broken” with a handful of obvious footguns (disk full, wrong perms, etc etc) and we had to stop running it because opus 4.6-era could one-shot it
The absolute gall of this release jfc
This is an absolutely astounding press release from eMudhra. No apology, a suggestion that the researcher who found their private keys must have used AI, and an attempt to shift blame to auditors... wow. emudhra.com/en/press-release/emudhra-statement-distrust-global-tls-intermediate-root-ca
This take is sending me so bad Its so bad that I'm going to start using it as a retort to "all software has no moat now" people
2a) seriously, a big part of LEGOs continual competitive advantage in a market with no moat at all (anyone can 3D print bricks) is that they are really clever in their set design and it is a joy to see the neat ways they do it. 3) Then display memories of the good times putting them together.
nah the reason kubernetes is good now is because many hard working, smart people made it good k3s is great. Cilium is great. There's a mountain of helm charts that let you do basically anything you want, and it all is a virtuous cycle AND agents have also helped, but that's a side thing
yeah I think this is also why kubernetes is kinda okay now. we have reached the point where the humans can be out of the coal-mine parts of these theoretically-good-but-in-practice-laborious patterns

THIS IS NOT A DRILL. If you package/distribute/maintain root stores or chain verifiers, act immediately. If you know how to remove trust in a root, consider doing it now. Otherwise, prepare to update systems as patches/mitigations come. Go users, update to Go 1.27.3 or Go 1.26.10.
I'm also interested in figuring out how to do AI building outside my areas of expertise but I am unsure how other than reading a lot and actually gaining some expertise in an area 🤷
the projects I'm excited for are the ones where: 1. there is pre-existing domain expertise on the team 2. there is extensive testing and automation, much more than one would do by hand 3. there is high effort expended over a long period of time (months at least, not just a throwaway project)

There is only a weak correlation between "used AI" and "low effort" Once you understand that, you understand the potential of the time in which we find ourselves
Been sitting on this draft for a very long time!
Finally, Bluesky is hiring! I highly encourage you to apply if you want to work at a scrappy place with a fantastic mission and team, where you can do the best work of your life (as @anoop.bsky.team says)!
I'm INSANELY excited about what I'm cooking up next. More on this soon! 👀👀👀 I'll give you a hint:
This is complete as of about 12:00 UTC today 😀
Hello #atproto developers! Tomorrow I'll be changing the DNS record for jetstream.us-east.bsky.network to point back at our actual east coast deployment (currently is just points at the west coast) This means your cursors are gonna get wonky during backfills. Please migrate to west for now!
