Quint made it onto The Stack Overflow Podcast.
A few things @bugarela.com gets into with Ryan Donovan:
→ why “you’re absolutely wrong” is the answer engineers actually want
→ the Kubernetes fix Quint rejected before it failed in prod
→ how writing the spec finds bugs before you run a single tool
More speed, more check marks, more formal verification. None of it matters without understanding.
Catch the whole conversation with @bugarela.com on the Type Theory Forall podcast.
I was on the Type Theory Forall podcast!
I've been a fan of this one for years and had a really fun time on this one. Check it out: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sdwj...
🏴☠️ Novo patrocinador a bordo: @quint-lang.org !
A Quint é uma linguagem open source de especificação executável.
Com ela você descreve o comportamento do sistema e verifica se ele está certo antes que o bug chegue em produção.
I cannot draw, but I have cool illustration ideas and hand them over to people that can actually draw. When I got this one, my heart was warmed 💜
Humans craft and have taste. Robots are tools.
@bugarela.com joins @Robbyonrails.com to talk about what happens when 800 tests still aren’t enough to trust your code.
AI-generated tests, formal specifications, Quint, and why human judgment still matters.

I updated my personal website (bugarela.com) today. I have been wondering what kind of blog setting I want for ages, and now I think I have a perfect solution with @leaflet.pub for editing/subscriptions and then rendering the posts from PDS directly on my website with my own styles. Love it!
not only was she one of the first, she is credited for literally coining the phrase "software engineer". photos like these inspired me so much when I was in school!
ah damn, RIP Margaret Hamilton.
she took safety-critical software engineering seriously, and got people to the moon and back.

One month of Quint Studio. Beta users have been generating specs, swiping behavior cards, and letting Studio write tests, and we're so grateful for everyone who's been in there with us.
Stay tuned for what's next. 💜
I recorded a reaction video for the first time! I had some comments on @raymyers.bsky.social's video and thought recording it was better than writing a wall of text.
Hope you like this! Link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0VT...
We were surprised today by @raymyers.bsky.social replicating @bcherny.bsky.social's formal methods experiment on the Claude Code Agent SDK using Quint Studio (and surfacing a likely bug along the way)!

New release: Quint v0.33.0 is out!
With performance improvements, bug fixes, and support for action properties. You can now write temporal properties about the transitions of your model and check them with TLC ✨
Leaving a star on our repo would mean a lot to us ⭐
We put together a practical reference to formal verification tools:

New video on how to trust AI-generated code before you ship it. Your agents and software factories need tools that enforce your intentions.
See what that takes: bit.ly/4y91lsf
Our CEO @bugarela.com was featured in @techradar.com today on what's changed in trust with AI writing code.
"AI is a generation tool, which is only as good as our ability to decide if a generated solution is correct or not."

Don't you love when you're randomly listening to a podcast while working, and you hear yourself mentioned?
Great conversation with Tessl on the @ainativedev.io podcast about their dark factory. Quint got a shoutout for helping provide effective guardrails along the way.
The code works. It passed review, it shipped, everyone moved on. Six weeks later it breaks, and nobody on the team understands why.
That's a new cost teams take when AI writes the code.
New video on navigating cognitive debt: bit.ly/46Y8uiZ
The early reviews are in, and we're grateful. Thank you to everyone testing Quint Studio and telling us what you think.
And these are only the public notes. The private feedback has been just as generous 💜
Quint Studio is now on beta!
Yes, it's a desktop app. Yes, it's a graphical interface. It's also an MCP server (which you host locally).
It will help you understand how your software behaves, find unexpected behavior, and improve your existing test suite to enforce behavior you care about.
Say hello to Quint Studio!
Software is full of decisions about how things should work: what happens first, what gets retried, who can do what, and what should never happen.
I hope this brings good insights and improves the developer life of everyone of you who tries it!
We released this to a group of our waitlist today - check your emails!
And we're still taking signups for the beta: if you want to be a part of the next group, apply here bit.ly/4wr3FK9
Do secondary studies in Software Engineering even contribute to the evolution of knowledge anymore, or are they just surface-level summaries that harvest easy citations while increasing the volume of published research?
The more we can enjoy making software correct, the more correct software will exist.
But if important things keep depending on us reading markdown, I'm afraid of where we are will end up.
So I'll fight for fun!
Me: has to work on a marketing video
Also me: completely over-engineers the process to minimize boredom.
(Script to take footage, python code to render preview video as I add the shots, claude cropping and speeding up parts of the video... All before I send it for editing)
We want a future where handing your code to an agent doesn't mean losing track of what it's supposed to do. That's what we're building Quint Studio for.
The beta will be on the hands of our waitlist soon. Don't miss out!

I'm so happy to see Quint getting lots of attention from the Japanese community 💜 This might become a really good excuse to visit Tokyo for the first time 👀
A special thank you to @mizchi.bsky.social and the wider Japanese community. We are grateful for the attention and excited to see what you all build next.
The Quint community has been busy this summer, from bug hunts in production systems to freshly verified consensus protocols. A few highlights we loved seeing:
I don't know how people manage multiple agents working on the same repo at the same time with git. I've been using @jj-vcs.dev and it feels really great, but just imagining the equivalent in git gives me a headache. Maybe people just let the agents handle git? I like being in control of my VCS.
For some reason, specifically on Friday afternoons, I like to work listening to Brazilian music, mostly on speakers (which I don't do often).
Might be something about convincing my brain that the week is ending.
When Charles Hoskinson and his 🐙 call Lean + Quint + Rust "the stack of stacks of stacks," we'll take it.
Nothing makes us happier than seeing Quint pushed in ambitious new directions.

If AI writes the code, what's left for engineers?
@bugarela.com's answer on the @infoq.com podcast: the work that always required the most thought. Defining correct behavior, reasoning about every ordering of events, catching the edge cases.
AI won't take the fun part away.
