I don't suppose I have any #openbsd #infosec #opensource (or #bitcoin millionaire) friends out there willing to signal boost, by chance? I'd appreciate it.๐Ÿก You'd really be helping me out a lot. ๐Ÿ’• #HelpSky #MutualAid

If any of my past work on #OpenBSD, or my highlight posts here (or Twitter/Mastodon) has been helpful to you, a small recurring monthly donation would be extremely appreciated. Reposts welcome. ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿก brynet.ca/wallofpizza.... bc1qzkchnc25yeqt9p24edsu5ln0mvh8hqdzdznlk2 #HelpSky #MutualAid

The new dbupdate(8) utility is being backported and released as a syspatch(8) update for #OpenBSD 7.9/8.0. This will make it easier for users to periodically update /etc/ssl/cert.pem and /usr/share/zoneinfo. It's also available as an errata patch: www.openbsd.org/errata80.htm... #eMudhra

dbupdate(8) added to -current www.undeadly.org/cgi?action=a... #openbsd #dbupdate #zoneinfo #cert #certificates

Pigs really can fly, the moon is made of cheese and Wine now runs on #OpenBSD! ๐Ÿ˜… Largely made possible by the work of Andrii (NethIafin), fabien@, and thfr@, 64-bit Windows applications (yes, games) run on -current! Link to WIP ports@ patch below, have fun playing^Wtesting! #PlayOnBSD ๐ŸŽฎ

Here's me testing one of the games I had on GOG, "Iratus". Also check out Thomas (thfr@)'s livestreams, he owns more games than me: * Disco Elysium * Hollow Knight * PREY * Death Stranding * Witcher 3 Remastered * Vampire Surviors .. video.gamerstavern.online/c/playonbsd/...

video.gamerstavern.onlinePlayOnBSDGaming, testing, developing, and shooting the breeze on/about OpenBSD and related *nix. Due to the nature of OpenBSD's gaming ecosystem, focus is on open-source/FLOSS games, retro games, and indie ...

Some more from my own brief testing the other day with the game Iratus. It's shaping up well, there's some hope to get into ports before Christmas.

I'd really appreciate some reposts this week, if you could. Thanks! ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿซถ #HelpSky #MutualAid #foss #opensource

Since this question has came up recently, despite Googlebook machines using Snapdragon chips like other Windows 10/11 ARM laptops, they are more like other Android devices (w/ fastboot, Android recovery). These are not UEFI machines, do not buy expecting to boot OpenBSD on them.

Sad news for macOS #OpenSSH users.. :\ "sshd(8): On OS X SDK >= 27, sandboxing is no longer supported as the API we depended upon has been removed and no obvious alternative provided."

github.comRequire kSBXProfilePureComputation for OS X sandbox. ยท openssh/openssh-portable@d4b4c30This has been removed in OS X SDK >= 27, so if it's not present then don't enable the corresponding sandbox.

OpenSSH 10.6 has just been released. This release contains fixes for a few security problems, some new features - including support for a post-quantum signature scheme, and the usual sprinkling of bugfixes www.openssh.org/releasenotes...

"Interesting use cases show up throughout the tree, [...] In case of an attack gaining code execution, the process's fd table contains less capable dirfd either because of the process locking directory descriptors it uses itself, or libc locking descriptors used very temporary."

Looks like some people stumbled upon the one Bluesky Starter pack I'm in (sorry I'm not a holographic). ๐Ÿ˜… Hi! My posts are mostly about OpenBSD.. and pizza. ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿก

Hey money havers, go support this #indie published #author. Buy his new Christmas #horror book. The digital copy is even #DRM free (epub and mobi). (Did I add enough hashtags?)

Look. We both know you're doing social media at work. That's what you do. You'll take the weekend off. Which means today is your last day to back #twistedPresents. Grab it now, or lament missing your chance when you come back Monday. www.kickstarter.com/projects/mwl...

Good news! Another common reason for having to run relayd or nginx in front of OpenBSD httpd(8) has been eliminated. ๐Ÿ‘ #OpenBSD httpd(8) now supports new block and drop rules for filtering HTTP requests based on header values! ๐Ÿ˜Ž marc.info?l=openbsd-cv... Some config examples in the tech@ thread:

marc.info'httpd: add header block/drop rules for request filtering' - MARC

#OpenBSD httpd(8) now has support for fully configuring custom HTTP response headers. marc.info?l=openbsd-cv... "This enables httpd to add security headers, custom metadata, or remove unwanted headers without modifying app/fastcgi code." Very cool. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Some more good progress on Qualcomm X2 Elite, Tobias Heider (tobhe@) just committed a fix to #OpenBSD -current for PCIe NVMe controllers on these machines. ๐Ÿ‘ "This fixes a timeout in dwpcie_atu_config and makes the NVME attach on my HP Elitebook X G2q." marc.info?l=openbsd-cv...

Tobias Heider (tobhe@) has also just committed the first pieces of #OpenBSD support for the Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Elite, Glymur (X2) SoC-based machines, while running in ACPI mode. ๐Ÿ˜Ž "This gets USB, keyboard and touchpad working in ACPI mode on the HP Elitebook X G2q." marc.info?l=openbsd-cv...

Heads up from naddy@, "We're rapidly approaching the [#OpenBSD] 8.0 release." "[...] if you want to make sure that your favorite applications work in the release, the time to test snapshot packages is NOW."

marc.info'Release: Ports commits now require approval' - MARC

A friendly reminder for #OpenBSD -current users, you'll need to use 'pkg_add -Dsnap ...' with upcoming snapshots as once again the project enters release mode for 8.0. ๐Ÿก marc.info?l=openbsd-cv... The -beta tag has been dropped.

$2500/month would go a long way towards solving a lot of my problems. ๐Ÿ˜” I get CAD ~$500 spread out over the month in small amounts thanks to the generosity and kindness of strangers. I'd really love to be able to focus more on open source & worry less about food, bills & rent. #opensource #helpsky

I submitted a funding.json entry to the floss.fund directory in the hopes it may steer some people to my wall of pizza. Fingers crossed. ๐Ÿคž ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿก
