Name your fav comic film that isn’t DC or Marvel. Mine's actually The Crow as well, but I don't wanna make this chain redundant so here's another fave:

Name your fav comic film that isn’t DC or Marvel. If I thought any harder over it then I would be cheating myself.

For some reason it wouldn't upload with the alt text. This was video of a dark highway, showing the previous HOH anthologies, then showing that this year, Highway of Haunts is coming.

You know, after seeing how many chonky, fluffy cats there are in the world, I'd kinda love to see a plus-sized Catwoman. The outcry would be terrible and obnoxious, but I feel like it could work if it was back to the vibe of the Batman TV show in Eartha Kitt's Catwoman era.

While Kitt wasn't plus-sized, she built up the "I'm SUPPOSED to BE LIKE A CAT" aspect of the character better than anyone, with Michelle Pfeifer being a close second. All the other Catwoman iterations focused more on the whole "Femme Fatale with a sexualized imitation of feline grace" portrayal.

Give us a Catwoman with more Orange Cat energy. Also give her some zoomies. Have her exhibit territorial behavior, scratch things up, maybe even pee on something out of spite. Have her be a cuddly doofus with whoever she loves. Maybe have Batman give her some scritches behind her ears.

I mostly agree with this, but with the caveat that the films and shows with rape scenes that are designed to titillate serve no one but rapey men and those ones are best eliminated from the screen. But a film that handled a rape scene and other issues other male-centered films fail at was The Crow.

we're conditioned not to talk about rape because this is the most advantageous outcome for rapists, who occupy the highest rungs of our hierarchy

Her existence as a full-fledged character is discussed throughout the film, and it is HER pain that ultimately defeats the main villain as Eric uses his Crow powers to make the boss of the rapists experience it. "30 hours of pain. All at once. All for you."

So if you're thinking of writing a story involving rape & femicide, there are ways to do it that aren't cheap exploitation and a tired plot device. Just remember it's one of the gravest wrongs a person can do to another, but also the victim is more than just a victim. Remember their humanity.

Normally stories that use the rape and death of a female character as motivation for a male character's arc suck. But The Crow did that and it was GOOD. Why? Because while the others reduce the woman to a plot device and give her no humanity, The Crow constantly reminds us of Shelley's humanity.

Shelly's rape and murder isn't portrayed as an insult/property damage to Eric. It's the harm & loss of a full-fledged human being who was a good and loved person by Eric, Sarah, and others. When Eric enacts vengeance, he constantly reinforces that fact and that evil was done to his love.

And a bundle of out of print first editions of my horror romance series. (Unfortunately, the last two are technically up on Amazon even though the publisher delisted them back in January. But we are working to get those taken off before the new editions come out.)

I spent way too much time reading this thread about some Catholic drama, but it's kinda riveting. Also, I'm not Catholic and don't have any close friends or family who are either. Just some acquaintances.

When you say something is “cringe,” you are telling us you are afraid of looking silly or being ridiculed for liking something. Be brave. Love what you love. Be loud about it. We are all going to die someday and worrying about “cringe” is a waste of precious time.

Wanna hear a story about a killer waitress with a bunch of Tori Amos Easter eggs? This was my first reading ever. I don't have the greatest voice, but I still had fun. #HorrorWriting #Horror #Horrorsky #Booksky

In my movie club, for the final weekend of Pride Month, I will be hosting Nightmare on Elm Street 2, To Wong Foo, and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, which I actually haven't seen yet and I'm really excited!

...Aaand I just accidentally drank the paint water.

The cats have 3 sources of clean water, including a fountain that I wash and change the filter every week. And yet I've had to scold them for drinking my paint water.

"It’s being called Nixonmaxxing, and it involves a series of slickly edited social media videos that cut archival Nixon footage to rap tracks and turn the 37th president into the sort of stone-cold, sigma male-style antihero that Gen Z bros can’t get enough of these days."

Listening to the 3rd quarter audiobook chapters of Bite At First Sight took longer because it was the first book I wrote in Kent's house and also a few scenes of Rafe's and Cassandra's relationship mirrored ours, with exact words and actions, bringing back memories that make me miss him so much.

Hi, expert on far-right extremism here, a history of domestic violence and misogyny is one of the strongest predictive variables for violent extremism, especially on the right. We've been raising the alarm on this for DECADES but no one cares.
