Is there a public roadmap for Google Colab? Something similar to: roadmap.streamlit.app In a teaching context it would be great to know what is coming, approximately when, so we can plan. It feels like new features get lobbed over the wall that might a dramatic impact on the classroom experience

Is it possible to identify which cells of a Google Colab notebook were the result of AI-generated code @googlecolab.bsky.social #TeachingWithAI #AIinEducation stackoverflow.com/questions/79...
Ducklake, simplified lakehouses by @duckdb.org Holy moly, it's amazing when things "just make sense." duckdb.org/2025/05/27/d...
Another week, another situation where the @pgatourus.bsky.social and their broadcast partner @cbssports.bsky.social refusing to use the space available to show the +/- for the player on the day.
Can someone explain why the "always on" leaderboard does not show the +/- for the round during the tv broadcast? We see the rank, player, tournament total, the hole, and to the right, there is clearly plenty of space to show the player's +/- for the current round. #PGA @pgatourus.bsky.social
@koaning.bsky.social Shot in the dark, and to be candid, I am only starting to look at Marimo now that the semester is over. Is it possible to distribute a notebook/single file for use offline with libraries already installed? Use case: An exam when a student's computer is in "airplane" mode.
I was today year's old when I found out about farsante and mimesis for fake data generation. I have used faker a bunch in python, but this caught my eye as it plays nicely with PySpark. github.com/MrPowers/far... mimesis.name/master/index...
@coatless.bsky.social Your quarto extension embedio was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for putting that together.
With the new semester under way I am not sure how much time I can spend on this idea just yet, but I have been thinking alot of pypeds and reworking that project. 20 years of IPEDS data resulted in a single duckdb database w/ 600+ tables and 2.3GB. I am excited to get some time to bring this to life
Just saw an ad that is promoting a course to help students "Become an LLM engineer" in just 8 weeks. C'mon now, we can do it 7, can't we? youtu.be/xdx5C7FwcSU?...
This visual introduction to decision trees is absolutely fantastic. Fantastic execution. www.r2d3.us/visual-intro... #ML #teaching #visualization
I am curious. I know there is quarto-live for #python and #Rstats in #Quarto but has anyone embedded a terminal into an HTML document? github.com/r-wasm/quart... I want to provide a painfully simple pathway for students to learn basic CLI commands from an embedded interface on my course site.
A short post with basic #Python code samples running through a variety of embedded #database options. brocktibert.com/posts/202412...
Teams are still leaning into distribution datasets as SAS, SPSS or MS Access? (SAS) www.cpsc.gov/Research--St... (MS Access) nces.ed.gov/ipeds/use-th... (SPSS, SAS ,STATA) nces.ed.gov/ipeds/datace...
A really solid win last night, but something is bothering me and I had to look it up. The #Bruins Zadorov is 6th in the league in giveaways. Would be curious where he ranks wrt giveaways in the Dzone. It's brutal to watch. To my eye, he is just meh. www.hockey-reference.com/leagues/NHL_...
A quick post for data teams that might lean heavily on traditional cloud data warehousing solutions like ETL right into Redshift. The separation of storage and compute isn't a new consideration, but the ecosystem is really starting to mature. Oh, #duckdb is amazing. brocktibert.com/posts/202412...
A short writeup on how to make external HTTP callouts via #AWS #StepFunctions. In this case, making API calls to #ChatGPT brocktibert.com/posts/202412...
I finally had a chance to take #AWS #StepFunction Variables and JSONata for a spin. Silly POC but highlights how Step Functions could easily power agentic workflows. I am excited to play around with more realistic examples. brocktibert.com/posts/202412...
Finally getting a chance to prioritize a block of time to play around with the new #AWS #StepFunctions features, but really 👀: docs.aws.amazon.com/step-functio... Holy moly.

aws.amazon.com/ec2/faqs/#t4... - yes, T4g instances are free for the next year plus. You also get 30GB of EBS, and plenty of bandwidth out to the public internet for personal use (100GB). #AWS #ListenToTheHeroes
The "free until Dec 31, 2025" t4g.small instance runs the PDS containers easily, even with an 8k follower account now moved to the PDS.
A quick writeup on how to deploy #streamlit on #GCP Cloud Run. The app is #serverless and will scale to zero when not in use. brocktibert.com/posts/202412...
