We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps: -It’s ‘sleight of hand’ -It’s ‘bated breath’ -It’s ‘lo and behold’ -It's 'buck naked' -It’s ‘brass tacks’ -It’s ‘free rein’ -It’s ‘toe the line'

Meta took down the No Kings organizing page today - the biggest day of protest this fall. They provided zero explanation. It stayed down for the entire afternoon until most of the protests were done. Outrageous. Put this on the January investigation list.

Let me make a sort of orthogonal point: I don’t get the attacks on immigrants - that even I’ve experienced - that sound like “you came here from a bad place.” Yeah man I know. That was the whole idea of coming here. To come to a good place where you can make something of your life in freedom.

My latest work dropped this week @newrepublic.com. It's an invitation for us to start thinking and talking more consistently about this emerging community safety ecosystem. If you'll indulge me, let me say a bit more about what I mean.

TRUMP'S TOP 10 9/11 LIES Trump has lied incessantly about 9/11 over the years, above all glorifying himself. We shouldn't let his lies obscure the truth, or desecrate the day. And so, on Sept 10, here's a list of his top 10 9/11 lies over the years. 1/12 www.randomlengthsnews.com/archives/202...

I was raised in the 70s by a single mother who subscribed to Ms. and dragged me to ERA and Women’s Political Caucus meetings most weekends until I was old enough to have my own activities. So I find this news gutting. Gloria Steinem was imperfect, like everyone is, but she was a hero.

How about this?

Why don't we just name all the lakes Lake America then? And the oceans, and maybe the planets. That would make us even greater! And the months! The months should reflect the greatness of america.

When an entire arena boos you for telling the truth, you quickly learn who has courage. Kris Kristofferson walking onto that stage and standing beside Sinéad as the insults rained down remains one of the most powerful acts of human decency I’ve ever seen. Three years resting in peace 🙌🏼🤍🙌🏼

7 - Throughout, the article uses real dockets, cases, and litigation documents to illustrate common pitfalls and strategic considerations. It also considers unresolved doctrinal tensions,

8 - particularly concerning jurisdictional deadlines and the interaction between statutes and procedural rules—while emphasizing the practical importance of careful appellate timing analysis for litigants, clerks, and judges. END THREAD

5 - It then analyzes the core timing rules under 28 U.S.C. 2107 and Federal Rule of Appellate Procedure 4(a), including the concepts of “entry” and docketing, the significance of filing dates versus entry dates, and the operation of Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 58’s separate-document requirement.

3 - the article combines doctrinal analysis with teaching methods designed to make appellate timing rules practical and memorable—to give the doctrine a stickiness in the hope that new lawyers will not soon forget what they've learned.

4 - The article first situates appellate timing within the broader framework of federal appellate jurisdiction, distinguishing appeals from district courts, administrative agencies, bankruptcy courts, and other tribunals.

2 - This article examines the law governing timing of federal civil appeals and explains how the relevant rules and case law can be taught to law students. Drawing on the author’s classroom teaching and his experience running a law-school appellate-litigation clinic,

Joan Armatrading is a legend. Discovered her in '84 w/ the song Drop the Pilot. My friends next door had MTV and the video was playing regularly. We liked it. But if I had one Joan LP to pick, it would be her 1976 self-titled, produced by Glyn Johns. Her commercial breakthrough and most consistent.
