Sean's injury will require weeks to months in hospital, and months to years of recovery, likely including psychological recovery. If you have the capacity, a GoFundMe has been set up so that he will be able to focus on his recovery without worrying about his bills: www.gofundme.com/f/no-one-fig...

At the next BC NDP Convention, delegates must clean house! And now is the time to start! Before the next leadership race begins. Make it the front and centre issue, impossible to ignore.

One thing it’s worth noting about the recent #BritishColumbia election: The Conservatives got less than 50% of the vote but 75% of the seats. We need electoral reform.

I wonder how many people know the BC Conservatives have vowed to end rent increase limits

David Eby just proved that electors see through the cynicism of fighting only for a party win. Electors want to vote for a party that puts people first. Or many of them won't vote at all. And then we get a government that separates people to benefit a chosen group and harm the rest.

COPE has become the model of cooperation that is the antithesis of how this provincial election was called and managed. Delegates to the next BC NDP Convention need to organize now to clear the leadership of every person who backed the snap election.

The Conservatives didn't win on their platform. They won because Eby is being punished. The BC NDP should look to COPE in Vancouver and reflect on cooperative trust building if they don't want to get punished next time.

Very much this.

My first thought this morning? Victoria and Vancouver will need to work together to counter the cuts and setbacks that are coming. Harm reduction, non-market housing finance, housing density, etc, are all on the chopping block. @seanorr.bsky.social @lucymaloney.bsky.social Let’s hold the line.

Anyone else want to know the names of every person in the party leadership that backed Eby's call for a snap election? Identify them and start preparing NOW to oust them at the next BC NDP Convention!

Yup. Outside of the military it's called "Workers Compensation". Each province's Workers Compensation Act stipulatrs that employers are not legally liable for injuries covered by workers comp insurance. Anyone who's been on workers comp benefits will tell you that it doesn't cover their losses.

The same reason that employers across Canada don't pay for the injuries suffered by their employees at work. The federal and provincial governments have created legislative frameworks which marginally care for the injured employee while protecting the employer from being sued for their negligence.

Help me understand why the military isn’t paying for everything

Three points: 1. Make self-fulfilling "338canada" predictions illegal. 2. Watch Vancouver municipal elections for an accurate contrarian barometer of BC election outcomes. 3. Take BC gov't to the International Criminal Court if BC Cons win & repeal the lukewarm-bowl-of-oatmeal that is DRIPA.

B.C. Election 🗳 Today's final projection from @338canada.bsky.social. The Conservative Party (CPBC) is projected to win 58 seats vs. 33 BC NDP + 2 BC Green, with a 87% probability of a CPBC majority. (24 Oct). The Okanagan is projected to be a Conservative sweep. GOTV progressives! #BCpoli #VernonBC

Tom Skerritt was such a natural and was so good in so many things that everyone will, rightly, associate him with different films/shows. For me, it's TOP GUN and STEEL MAGNOLIAS. He was so likable, largely because he wasn't trying to be. variety.com/2026/film/ne...

Always the same tired playbook. An accusation doesn't have to be true to turn the gaze of the foolish away from the real problem. China and Russia are again meddling in the US election. The Trump administration response? Point the finger at Canada. 🤷

Anyone who has ever been involved in s.35 consultations, on either side, will be able to tell you with absolute certainty that there is no possible way that they could accomplish this in a year, never mind 2.5 months. Smith is just straight up lying.

Premier Danielle Smith says if Albertans favour separation in the October referendum, consultations with First Nations would take about 2.5 months and a second, **binding** referendum on secession could happen early next year. www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/alber...

Majority governments are the antithesis of compromising for the survival of all peoples. Majority governments epitomize the "Crown" supremacy that has plagued the colonizer political system for centuries. Majority governments force us to behave against our nature and thereby to act unnaturally!

There is absolutely zero contradiction in endorsing Eby as BC Premier and Lowan to represent her riding and lead the BC Greens. The upside would be potential for more consensus decision-making about the climate that all life relies on for our survival. Why is that so hard to understand?

Unwavering servitude to a political affiliation/philosophy constitutes stubborn, submissive servitude, contradicts both individual freedoms and collective consensus, and is literally unnatural to living in healthy community with everyone else.

That said, I recognize that Indigenous values often direct Indigenous peoples to vote for the best flesh-and-blood person to lead them. If there is even a person that we can support in good conscience, otherwise no vote from us, and never a compromise vote for a lessor colonizer/evil.

Indigenous people following Indigenous values do not blindly support a person with our vote merely because of their party affiliation. That's madness! Unwavering servitude to a political affiliation/philosophy is foolish by Indigenous ways of thinking.

Thank you, Vancouver. We did it!! This win would not have been possible without each and every one of you: the volunteers who spent countless hours talking to people; to every one of you who donated; and every voter who trusted @copevancouver with their vote. I am deeply humbled and grateful.

I look forward to possibly meeting the other SEVEN (!) COPE electeds in the future! So incredible! So happy! So proud of COPE for moving forward in the best possible way from the 2022 election defeat (excepting incumbent Suzie, of course!).

That said, one of my relatives is badly injured and fighting to live after the CFB Wainwright incident. It's a difficult time to be celebratory. I'll have more to say when the time feels right. For now, please know, for what it's worth, that I am proud of all of you. Well done! ❤️

9/ What Musk has demonstrated is that the Starlink kill switch is real, that he personally controls it, and that he's willing to use it for purely personal reasons, against the interests of his own company and country. This is utterly disastrous for SpaceX's credibility.
