Megathread of posts and articles about the invasion of DC that has been ongoing since August 2025: 🧵

I feel like I’m losing it. Abdul El-Sayed isn’t a socialist. He isn’t even in DSA. He’s a slightly left-of-center Democrat

Phil Lewis@phillewis.bsky.social

Detroiter Nicole Williams when asked if Abdul El-Sayed is ‘a bit too left wing to win in Michigan’: “At this point what do we have to worry about? Anything but what we have. We're on our way to hell, so at this point: socialist, socialize, social, dont matter to me, lower my cost of living!”

I know these are leading questions and even dead-center (or even a bit right of center) Obama gets called a socialist. But like…can we all agree that socialism isn’t just “Medicare for all and actually giving a shit about Palestinians”?

John Breen reposted

If you’re going to say that the Netanyahu bloc is larger than the opposition bloc, because the opposition bloc explicitly excludes the Arab parties, then you cannot also say that the fact that [some] Palestinians get to vote proves what a vibrant democracy Israel is.

Don’t take my word for it

John Breen@breen.tech

Netanyahu is not the problem. If he’s out of power, Israel will still oppress Palestinians. They don’t magically go back to some good-guy “self defense” situation. That’s always been a myth

So I learned who the Jimmys in 28 Years Later are modeled after and…that adds a whole layer to their plot line

Spoiler alert: notorious sex offender and pedophile Jimmy Saville. Learning this because some Americans are dressing as the character from the movie and learning that’s not a good idea

First they came for Chick Fil-A And I did not speak out Because I did not eat at Chick Fil A Then they came for the Cracker Barrel And I did not speak out Because I did not eat at Cracker Barrel Then they came for The Cheesecake Factory And there was no one left To speak out for me

Someone is going to post some shit about Israel “voting out fascism” and I’m going to lose it

Yeah, this part. Sometimes voting is about choosing your enemy (e.g. Spanberger over Earle-Sears) But then you have to actually fight I also don’t begrudge anyone who abstains from voting because both candidates cross a red line for them.

Kari Dru@karidru.bsky.social

Every fascist on the ballot is our enemy, whatever color their banner is. So one of the reasons I voted how I did was so that one other person who doesn't feel all right about choosing which enemy to oppose for the foreseeable, numerically doesn't have to...

Did Kevin Cash just say “yeah he has about 20 pitches left in him” into a mic on a national broadcast?

Idk bout you, but I don’t think I would tell my opponent exactly how many pitches they have to foul off in order to push the starter out of a win-or-go-home World Series game

Meta hates Black women

Angie Nixon@angieforfl.bsky.social

Hey Meta 👋 We are currently hosting a get-out-the-vote rally in Osceola County, home to a large Puerto Rican community, and our #LatinosConAngie Instagram page was suddenly taken down while we were actively posting content from the event.

After learning more about the cops being called to that 3 year old’s soccer game, I have an unpopular opinion: The cops still should not have been called.

Tell them they’re not allowed to come back. Show them the rules they broke and say “here’s why you’re not allowed back”.

This is through their “Fascists Fleeing” visa program

WASHINGTON (AP) — State Department says it will give US visas to defeated Brazilian presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro and his family.

It’s also clearly “inspired by” Threads lol

NEW: DSA's National Political Committee passed two resolutions today aimed at Los Angeles mayoral candidate Nithya Raman, beginning processes that could result in DSA-LA being forced to rescind its endorsement of her this weekend and/or Raman herself being expelled from DSA by January.
