"But how do your *male* friends feel about your feminism? Surely there's *some* man you love enough to prioritise his desires over women's needs? Or are you a heartless bitch?" 🙄

Thanks to all who thoughtfully replied to this yesterday. Do keep replying, it’s for anyone who’s interested/involved in the govt’s aim to hugely slash crime in the next decade - by targeting the national emergency of violence against women and girls. I’ll add the link to govt plan in comments.

Helen@futurestand.bsky.social

Thinking about the new UK govt target to reduce Violence Against Women and Girls by 50% within the next decade: what do you think are the best ways to achieve this? Interested to see all thoughtful ideas. (Remember, VWAG is 20% of all *reported* crime but studies show much more goes unreported.)

Another brilliant piece by Hannah Barnes ‘ For Cass, the scandal that has unfolded in Brighton “dwarfs” that of the Tavistock’s Gids. She called on the GMC to immediately suspend Hall. “I really would want to ask why he still has a licence to practise.” ‘ www.thetimes.com/uk/healthcar...

Edinburgh Rape Crisis not only failed to offer female-only support for women who needed it; they ghosted & denigrated women requesting female-only, not even signposting them to alternatives that could help them. It isn't women who've blown this up - it's activists opposing longstanding rights

Women noticed, but rarely cared, when the only TWs using female-only loos were the v small numbers who'd medically/surgically transitioned, & who generally understood why services like communal changing rooms & rape crisis services needed to be female-only. Self-ID changed that difficult balance

🔴NEW🔴 Thousands of domestic abuse victims are ending up under arrest, in court and behind bars – while abusers remain free. Read my major investigation into one of the great, underreported criminal justice scandals of our time www.opendemocracy.net/domestic-abu...

Painting JK Rowling as an evil woman who wishes death and illness on trans people because she believes women need single sex provisions and recognition in certain situations, isn’t just about playing victim. It’s playing victim in order to coerce others to submit to your demands. It’s manipulative.

If men try telling me that women only need toilets at work for pee and poo and so what does it matter if men come into the Ladies, I’m going to spell out the bloody truth. Women’s toilets are a safe space for us while we deal with the consequences of biological reality. We don’t want men there.

Helen@futurestand.bsky.social

Periods that start early. Periods with huge clots. Perimenopause flooding. Blood getting on pants, clothes, hands. Frightening blood spotting during pregnancy. Frightening bleeding after menopause. And even miscarriage. These things happen in women’s toilets. Men - all men - must stay the hell out.

It would be good to see trans activists and their supporters answer JK Rowling’s reasoned and civil arguments without misrepresenting them or shouting abuse.

Colin Lawson@colindlawson.bsky.social

JK Rowling has written a new piece about women’s rights and whether or not she wants trans people dead. (Spoiler: she doesn’t.) www.jkrowling.com/opinions/an-...

JK Rowling briefly mentions the death and rape threats she’s received, and Bluesky demonstrates its #bekind credentials. Then pretends she wants trans people eliminated from society. Anyone who simply reads her words knows she stands up for women’s rights and wishes no ill will on trans people.

Sometimes I think nobody buys that girl-boss lean-in you-go-girl give-zero-fucks fake feminism any more, & then I open the Times & read: 'The real feminist triumph is what Jenner’s surgical chest represents: women’s new-found economic independence.' For other feminist triumphs, see my latest book.

Found this on X and confirmed it was real on Reddit. The responses on Reddit are so out of proportion.

No we are "wildly hostile" to a failure to support women in the workplace. That's not being hostile to Unions, it's objecting to a failure to fulfil their obligations. At least deal with what we actually say rather than invent malign intent.

There seems to already be the usual misinformation around this policy. What is this post referring to? The guidance surely has not had enough time to have killed anyone.
