In London it was 31%, up from 25%. I thought it might be higher. When I voted the line went out the door. So happy with the winning result in my ward, someone young and motivated.

I agree with Nick here. To misquote Hamilton the Musical, you only get one shot every four years-ish so you better exercise your electoral franchise.

The other thing that got to me about Detroit is that you could turn on any random side street and run into an Albert Kahn building downtown. This Corinthian columned one was the former Detroit Trust Company. (The smaller one was the former State Savings Bank)

So voter turnout was at 46% which is up a lot from 38.5% in the 2023 by-election. This graph from The Local is also an interesting ward by ward breakdown:

Apparently turnout was up significantly, and her total was up a similar amount

okay well we had to send the biped to bed without learning the election results, something that upset them greatly either they're 100% my child or they just didn't want to go to bed and were grasping for any excuse that was handy por que no le dos, etc etc

I fear that this might be a late night for results in Toronto. I remember , maybe the first time Alejandra Bravo won, that results didn’t come in in Davenport until after midnight. It’s only a few polls reporting right now so take things with a grain of salt.

Had a sudden urge for soup. Night soup. Diced some onion, a whack of garlic & 2 quarts of nearly expired mushrooms. Sauté. Add 8 cups of water, a half bag of yellow split peas, a liberal dose of cumin, poultry seasoning, salt & pepper. Let burble. I'll thicken it a bit at the end with some flour.
