I have never utter the phrase “Motherfucker do you know who I am?” to a person, but I have to many a GUI and command line that presented the message “Contact your network administrator.” Crossposted with @openvibe.social

Ben: Disregard that last email. Me: *reads anyway* You know what gets me about that email? The thing that really triggers me? When the fuck did I become “Mr. Stewart”? Ben: I figured you’d say that. That’s why I did it. Crossposted with @openvibe.social

Up at 4am for a race that was supposed to start at 3am only to find apparently it rained in Malaysia and they didn’t get the race started yet. Thanks for the extra hour of sleep, #F1! Crossposted with @openvibe.social

Erika rang the bell today to celebrate the last round of radiation. It’s back to the new normal of immunotherapy (infusion every 3 weeks and a daily pill with no fun side effects). But, she hit a milestone. Crossposted with @openvibe.social

Note to self: While the phone can usually last a couple of days on a charge, you should probably charge it up before any ophthalmologist visit, since for multiple reasons you’ll spend several hours in a waiting room. Crossposted with @openvibe.social

You know where AI could do some good? Elevators. A lot of us could save ourselves a significant chunk of time if the thing looked at the clock and figured out that the next person to use it was likely going to be at one end rather than the other. Crossposted with @openvibe.social

It would appear that, at least for my hospital (and the one Erika needs to get her infusion at) MyChar/Epic is down. Don’t have Twitter (refuse to call it the other thing) on my phone any more so I can’t search there … Crossposted with @openvibe.social

Those of you at Cisco Live - miss you guys; first miss since I started in 2013. Hope to be there next year. Erika is doing well, just dealing with side effects from a med she’s on.

Irony: While preparing my food in the kitchen, if I grab a dog treat, it makes the dog disappear. He runs into the crate in the living room.

Piece of advice: If you ever put a moderate (or large) amount of data in a table and send it to someone else, before you do, sort it by each column and look for dupes where there shouldn’t be any. Otherwise you will be called on it.

Property: What rooms are these 50 APs in? Me: Well, I have 51 deployed in that building and while you’ve sent 50 property numbers, you’ve only sent 49 serial numbers - one twice. So, here’s where the 49 are along with two extra. Up to you to go out and look at the APs to resolve your error.

Apparently the .2 PSA was enough for my doctor to say “Let’s monitor every four months to see where it goes.” So, still no need to treat but making sure it doesn’t go up. 50/50 at this point.

The @alerts.fuelrats.com have some rescues farther than 65K Lightyears from Sol in Elite:Dangerous, so my personal best of 23K isn’t really that far - especially with the Caspian Explorer and the Neutron Highway making it take just over 50 jumps. First Limpets: 188 (172 PS, 16 PC).

Dr Office: Hi - Me: I got the test yesterday. DrO: Oh that’s why I was calling. We’ll look for the results. *click* Phone: You have a new test result! PSA still 0.

Doctor at 940a: You can go home today! Me at 340p: For various definitions of “today”. Waiting on meds and transport, but otherwise ready to go.

There were some complications and she’s going to need a foley for a few weeks, but Erika is feeling much better and will be able to come home today. We’re just waiting for the nurse/doctor to come in and kick us out.

Update: They took a tumor out of Erika (along with a kidney, some shavings from her rib cage) Wednesday. She’s very sore but will probably be home by Monday. They were going to do HIPEC but decided against it to protect the remaining kidney. Probably more chemo/immunotherapy in her future.

ICU nurse taking care of Erika messes with a bunch of tubes coming out of my wife- Me: As a network engineer, it looks like you have one too many cables. Nurse: -peers- I DO have one too many cables!

Me, in “daily standup”: Today was a little bit of project cleanup and a lot of generally being a team lead (for various definitions of “lead”).
