Why am I getting _so_ many more scouting emails lately? Is it just that people are freelance scouting more, oe is there some VC dynamic where small early stage investors can't find pipeline, or what??

Flying the flag becuse striving for a more perfect union, liberty and justice for all is more important today than any other point in my life. Happy 4th, y'all.

It's amazing. Every day these guys just give America a big middle finger, with no apparent consequences.

Marco Rubio on why Trump's son in law, Michael Boulos, who has no government role, was in his official meetings in Kuwait: "He was just here because his brother lives here and I'm a good friend of Michael's, so we had a chance to catch up"

Once upon a time, while studying disinfo about the civil war in Syria, I posted my thoughts on Gabbard as a down-the-rabbit-hole serial repeater of Russian-Iranian-Syrian propaganda. Then Jack Dorsey jumped into my DMs telling me I had it all wrong. Strange times. And yet still not as weird as this.

Well...the new Neo things are cheaper than a phone, so. Can I be outraged that a phone costs more than a laptop?

Overheard at the gym: Real estate agent pitching a potential client about the greenness of a particular development. Took 20 years to get here, but pretty awesome!

The thing that stymied me in past attempts was the number of hidden Docs and Sheets files. Half an hour of vibe-coding an App Script solved that issue.

First year in a _really_ long time that ALL my holiday shopping was in-person and local. Next year, maybe I can even do it early enough to mail stuff to out-of-town family in time for Christmas arrival!

I think people who are writing code have a fundamentally different experience of AI. I definitely don't need the world to have the ability to make AI slop videos, music, etc., but being able to whip up bespoke, low-risk personal productivity software is like when VisiCalc came out, I imagine.

Discord for remote teams is awesome. Weekend vibe coding the integrations we're used to having in Slack + a couple of choice 3rd party ones and we are in business! Actually so much better than Slack, I can't believe we didn't switch sooner!

Sort of the whole point of having a (smal s) state, really.

Because American government is so inept, we live as slaves to precarity. It's not just corrosive politically, it holds back our economy as people become more risk averse. Paradoxically, I think, we'd be a lot wealthier overall if we insured against catastrophe collectively rather than individually.

112 years ago, on the 21st of December 1913, the first crossword puzzle is published in the New York World. Made by Arthur Wynne created the puzzle for the 'Fun' section as 'word-cross'. The change to 'Cross-Word' happened because of a typesetting error. #otd #history 🗃️

Funny, my kid asked me today what is a paradox. "The only people who suffer the full consequences of being wrong are poor people. Everyone else outsources consequences to society; AND ALSO, I a rich-as- fuck person, suffer the full consequences of my risks." Dude is probably good at

something. The problem is that being good at one thing doesn't mean you're good at most things, or even many things, and even if you are, like, super smart, you're just an instance of human. It's not like the distance between a jellyfish and a dolphin.

Mainly, I can't feign interest. Often, I can find something actually interesting in what someone is saying, but in that case, I've learned it's unadvisable to respond or ask questions, becuse apparently that's scary and argumentative.

With you until you got to 'need LLM'. No need for LLM to give type-ahead. And any numeric thing, either - that's just a little piece of input validation.

Given this capability, forcing me to wade through a list of 50+ states and territories is unacceptable. Just let me type in the state name and have the machine correct any problems. 4/7

I appreciate this thread. I would guess this is why seniors and eng managers from big corps have a hard time at startups.

We all work under constraints like time or budget, even when working incrementally. You do not solve that problem with a plan, however, particularly an inflexible one. (You do need a product strategy, but that's a higher-level thing. 1/5

Trump is just the worst! The National Park Service is reshuffling its free-admission schedule so that visitors get in free on Donald Trump’s birthday next year, while Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth (previously free days) will now require regular entrance fees.
