Board Games Ireland

Running another convention for my board game meet up group in January. I set this group up in 2013 as collecting boardgames and playing boardgames are two different hobbies and the ‘playing them’ hobby is the challenging one as finding players is tough but that’s where the meetup group comes in.

Pleased to announce that we are running our 5th Board Games Ireland Convention on January 9th at the Dublin Airport Hilton. Early bird tickets currently available! bgicon.ie #boardgames #ireland #dublin #tabletop

Getting close to 10,000 members on our group on meetup.com We already hit this milestone before but I think when Bending Spoons took over the app they removed a lot of inactive/spam accounts, so we’ve been slowly crawling our way back up. It will also be 16 years of running the meet-ups next month

Currently working on a poster design for the next @boardgamesireland.com convention and all the terrible generative AI posters out there these days has really pushed me to go high effort. This was my kitchen table last night. That’s components from 59 boardgames I’ve assembled into a collage there.

Quiet night at the @boardgamesireland.com meetup this evening. But I did get to introduce people to the excellent Irish mythology game Inis. #Boardgames

Got to play the Rear Window boardgame at the Sunday meet up yesterday. It’s sort of like Mysterium where one player is trying to convey what is going on in each window using image based cards. But there might also be murder so they may be concealing information about one window. #Boardgames

Just €10 for the classic 7 Wonders in Mr. Price at the moment. #Boardgames

Got to play the Slay the Spire #boardgame this evening. The video game is an all time favourite. It’s good fun and captures the spirit of the video game really well. But we got through two acts today and it might have been a bit on the easy side. Will have to doublecheck I have all the rules right.

“The Cardboard Society - Inside Board Games Ireland’s meet-ups” A short video about the group from a few years back when we were running our meet-ups in the now sadly gone Alfie Byrne’s pub. #BoardGames #Tabletop youtu.be/hCv3n08wHQ4?...

At last Sunday’s meet up in The Black Sheep we managed to win a game of Miremarsh with the help of an angry goose and a sick dog. #Boardgames #Tabletop
