Another update on the trial for the guy who totaled my car! My neighbor was also subpoenaed but she went in and the LOSER is trying to say someone else was driving??? No one saw the actual accident because it was like 11pm and we were inside but we all took video and he’s the only one there

lol tell me why they would send me an email and physically mail me a subpoena Stating that if I don’t appear it may result in a warrant for my arrest or contempt of court citation And I try to get in touch with them for two weeks Only to hear they aren’t planning to call me as witness anyway

Years ago, when i first moved to Seattle, one of the issues that I would bring up with my therapist a lot was trying (and feeling like i was failing) to build a community here Eight years in, and I’ve got 15 people committed, receipts in hand, to go to my birthday party, four months ahead of time 🥰

Saw the Odyssey last night, and it was… fine? Christopher Nolan’s hesitancy to put actual violence against women and innocents on screen, and yet the entire journey (and especially the extreme response of women like Circe) being in response to those actions, makes the men seem like tragic heroes

By showing Penelope staying strong pining for his return without the foil that is his actions by NOT being true to her (in the odyssey text with multiple women but in movie with Calypso), we lose some of Odysseus’ depth. By changing the scene with the cyclops we lose his cleverness.

By trying to smush the entire odyssey into one movie, I think we lost the plot that makes the odyssey such an enduring story and the characters such complex, mythic and enduring heroes. By trying to force a deeply flawed, deeply human cast into a more basic moral ‘hero’ framework, I like them less
