Just yesterday I was telling a friend I was watching Land of the Lost (from the 70s) on Tubi and noticed Walter Koenig was the writer for one of the episodes (maybe more?). Of course, he'll always be Pavel Chekov in my heart. Godspeed.

George Takei@georgetakei.bsky.social

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

I hate these kinds of posts. Harris and the Democratic Party took their base for granted. They didn't listen to the voters. They didn't earn the votes. They only cared about donors. And now Trump is a wrecking ball to the US. Blaming the voters for the failings of the party is not a good strategy.

Maybe white people should pack up & go back where they came from?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

"He's gonna fix it. Believe in him ... all the abortion, it's evil ... I want to see 2 people -- Trump & Jesus...we do not want Muslims taking over...I have horrible thoughts. I don't think they should be here. This isn't their country...they need to pack up & go back where they came from."

Nothing in the Bible supports Pearl Harboring Iranian negotiators during talks or opening your illegal war against Iran by triple-tapping a girl's school and murdering them.

Scott Horton@robertscotthorton.bsky.social

JD Vance is out there on the campaign stump for Paxton, telling Springfield, OH level ("they're eating cats, they're eating dogs") lies about his political targets. This is a man of remarkably low moral character.

Not all elephants wear capes.

D. Earl Stephens@dearlstephens.bsky.social

📌“He was quickly over run and the elephants trampled him into the earth and all that we found was basically a very large blood stain around the clothing he was in.” Good news is hard to find these days, friends. Enjoy!

Currently reading Rama II by Arthur C Clarke and Gentry Lee. It was published in 1989 and set in the year 2200ish. The technology described in the book is quite quaint.

Bernie Sanders turned 25 the day Star Trek first aired in the USA. #FeelTheBern #StarTrek

Robert Reich@rbreich.bsky.social

Happy birthday to my old friend, Bernie Sanders. It's an honor to have been in the fight with him for all of these years. Bernie has more guts than any politician I know. Hell, he has more guts than just about anyone I know.

I'm old enough to remember the USA and UK overthrowing the democratically elected leader of Iran and installing the puppet Shah because of oil.

Luca@lucagalletti.bsky.social

The US has a dark history of unaccountability.

TIL EV drivers don't eat or buy things.

Our Common Defense@ourcommondefense.bsky.social

EV drivers don’t feel these oil shocks anymore they’re isolated from the whole oil‑price circus and the tyranny of connected interests which was the whole point of the Inflation Reduction Act

Andy Ogles has no place in America's Congress.

Brian Tyler Cohen@briantylercohen.bsky.social

Breaking: GOP Congressman Andy Ogles, who has said gay people have “no place in America” and “Muslims don't belong in American society,” just lost his primary in Tennessee. He will no longer serve in Congress.

Almost all companies, big, medium, or small, are authoritarian in nature. They do not operate as democracies. There is a dictator at the top and lieutenants to carry out his or her orders. I don't believe AOC has any real plans of restructuring businesses to better represent democratic values.

I wish them a very lovely street closing ceremony.

Pop Crave@popcrave.com

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have reportedly filed a permit request to close streets around Madison Square Garden from July 2-4, according to TMZ. Several members of the Kansas City Chiefs have also booked hotels in the area for the same time period.

I mean the Emoluments Clause of the US Constitution is already there... Oh right, the US is post-Constitutional at this point... I don't think introducing a Bill will help that much...

Elizabeth Warren@elizabeth-warren.bsky.social

I can’t believe I have to say this: The President should not financially benefit from the very government he controls. I’ve got a bill to stop Trump’s corruption.

This is similar to that seal (or probably a sea lion, can't remember) video where it kept giving the diver a penguin.

Digital Brain@yourdigitalbrain.bsky.social

Orcas showcase their intelligence by offering fish to divers, highlighting the surprising connections between species in the wild. A moment of nature's wonder.

Stop blaming voters. It was the Democratic Party's job to run an electable candidate. Someone who could beat the worst POTUS ever. They failed, but they fundraised greatly. And really, that's all they cared about. Not the country, not the people, just the money. Blaming voters is just lazy.

Michael J. Stern@michaeljstern.bsky.social

America has a demented president running the country and the people who voted for him, or couldn't get themselves to vote for Harris so they stayed home or voted 3rd party, are responsible for this damn mess. Anyone with a lick of sense could have seen this coming.

But come on, we all know that acoustic coupler modem is incapable of wardialing. Totally unbelievable.

Brett Coughlin@coughlinbrett.bsky.social

Roger Ebert gave the 1983 film WarGames a glowing four-star review, calling it an "amazingly entertaining thriller" that successfully balanced teenage drama with Cold War anxiety. So I’m not the only one who ever liked it. #Wargames #IFC

The 250th anniversary of the United States is in 2039, since the US Constitution was ratified and the states were wedded in 1789. The 250th anniversary of the divorce from Britain is 2026.

Mrs. Betty Bowers@mrsbettybowers.bsky.social

Celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States with the dumbest, most corrupt president ever in power is a bit like celebrating a wedding anniversary after your spouse murdered all your children and drained your bank accounts.

Shaming voters and non-voters is a sure-fire way to win the next election, if there is one. Blame the political establishment machine who couldn't run a message that appealed to them, not the voters. I also love how she assumes all those non-voters would've voted the way she wanted them to. 🤦‍♂️

Shimanti@humanconsequences.com

We all have a right to be angry at GOP voters -- that almost goes without saying. But I still maintain a special reserve of vitriol for people who can't be bothered to vote at all. They, by themselves, could have prevented this. They, by themselves, can stop this whenever they want to.

I fell in love with Katharine Hepburn watching this movie.

Yesterday's Word Count = 1,066 THE LION IN WINTER (1968) John Castle plays Geoffrey – the son nobody but the historians remember. Geoffrey: I know. You know I know. I know you know I know. We know Henry knows, and Henry knows we know it. We're a knowledgeable family.

Sit in her shoes? How big are her feet?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Crockett on MTG resigning: "Honestly, I was like, you got to be kidding. You're on the other side of the president for one week and you can't take the heat? Imagine what it is to sit in my shoes."

The new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft starts at $630. A basic iPad, which is much faster, has more storage, and can run apps (such as the Kindle app), starts at $349. The only thing the Kindle wins at is battery life and viewing in the sun. I'm really not understanding Amazon here.
