Is my ego just too inflated, or should there be a subreddit called r/reporters-should-ask. It feels like everyday people submitting questions directly for certain leaders could be a great general thought pavillion, but also serve to see how far our media is detached from the people Should I make it?

Can we get a dem strategist talking about the narrative that republicans specifically target climate change for 2 key reasons? 1) its anti science, which feeds their base well 2) climate change contributes to immigration surges, and Republicans need immigration to remain in the forefront.

"The Republicans refuse to be held hostage" is perhaps a fair point, but is entirely undercut by the 13 times democrats were held hostage under Biden. Unless youre saying Biden should have steam rolled them with no negotiation, youre a hypocrite and your complaint is irrelevant

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Gallego: "How can I negotiate? The president is in Asia for 5 days. Johnson is basically keeping the House out until January to protect pedophiles. So who am I negotiating with right now?"

The government should have a competing company in every "essential" market. Food, housing, clothing, water, energy, telecoms, transportation. All of these things should be controlled with a governments ability to undercut those seeking to make profits. Not government monopoly, just some competition

100%. Obama will almost guaranteed not be the candidate on the ballot in 2028, but I would feel very good about him attempting a run now for all of these reasons. And, much like Trump will, he can channel all of his months of campaigning and support into the actual candidate.

I agree that all of this wouldn't work if they weren't pushing on an already-cracked door. Even libs have these reactionary instincts inside them, which can be activated given the right stimuli.

Wanna know why Stephen Miller froze after mentioning “plenary authority"? He knew he said the quiet fascist takeover part out loud.

Thats why the peace deal was slated for Monday, but announced today. Trump was literally trying to pull a "well i did the assignment i just forgot it at home, let me show you tomorrow" about the fucking Nobel prize. This is going to be a very news filled weekend

I've always viewed this from the flip side. Media is so divested, that it's less what some media leader chose to talk about, and more about what people choose to consume. Ill never understand people who don't have the energy for politics, but do for in depth sports stats, etc.

David Roberts@volts.wtf

All I want in life is to persuade everyone, when encountering politics & culture, to ask, "why are we talking about this?" I mean that very literally: anything you encounter on your screens reflects a choice. Someone covered that, talked about that, rather than the many other things out there. Why?

ground.news/article/nobe... Congratulations to all Heinz Ketchup stock holders, Trump will be making you rich over the next few days or so. Im sure it's extra salt in the wound that it's going to Venezuela, like the bully at the end of a Hollywood film who's girlfriend leaves him for the needy MC

Fun math: $50 per month x 12 months x 18 years is $10,800. In 18 years, your money isn't even doubling. Meanwhile billionaires are doubling their billions in a matter of months? Hours? Im not saying this info isn't important, but we're operating on a broken set of game rules

This is important to remember. Theres already places feeling the effects, based on budgets expecting this shortfall. The stuff happening now is real. But there's SOO much more in their pipe full of shit. This is just the drippings

For everyone who complains about DEI, fearing someone might not be qualified if a company has a quota for race: how many white people does a company have to have for you to make that same assumption? If a company said "a minimum of 95% of our employees will be white", do you wonder the same way?

Tonight was merely a window into the run down shack that is the Trump Admin. It's important to acknowledge the Trump Admin would have caved on ALL the previous plays it made. This is just the first one where we really pushed back, collectively. Hell, Ben Shapiro and Candace Owen's were with us...

Allison Gill@muellershewrote.com

Tonight, the American people - in defense of free speech - returned a political satirist to the airwaves after a burgeoning fascist regime tried to silence him. It’s an historic night. I won’t forget it.

Am I delusional in denying that there's a single person who voted Dem in 2016 and or 2020, but changed to voting for Trump later? Like, i genuinely think all of these people are lying, that they either voted Trump all the way, or at least didn't vote. How can you think hes gotten better even once?

Dont be ridiculous. Trump would claim shark attacks cause people to get hungry for ice cream. No matter how stupid his interpretation is, you always have to one up yourself when it comes to matching Trumps stupidity. Or he'd try to pass "its always November" to keep the attacks in the low months

I wasn't sure if this was sarcastic or not, but yeah most CEOs have been led to believe if they align enough with Trump, their profits will be untouched. Let's ask Disney if the 4Bn in profit losses because of people's outrage was worth capitulating to a man baby

Just want to point out that more than 50% of the population currently alive in Gaza *was not alive when this conversation took place*. The average age is under 18. So even if this was taken at full value; it's a new generation now, one that is more than capable of deciding it's future for itself

#HowardLovy This is correct. "Free Palestine was a fraud then and now. #RashidaTlaib 👇

Science-Mania 2025 (hosted by Linda McMahon for the experience) is going to be insane. I heard they're also gonna talk about the chemicals in the water that turn frogs gay, and that blue hair dye is linked to school shootings. Man, it's hard to come up with fake stuff as stupid as the real stuff

So cool they discovered the cause of autism on basically day they guessed they would. I’m also glad they are withholding this information for a few days to prep for a WrestleMania-style announcement. This is how science works.

The right is absolutely correct on one thing: there is a mental illness epidemic in the US. They know this because a majority of them are in their voter base. That's why they've never worked to fix it, and instead empower them with AI BS from Kirk beyond the grave

Kodiak149@kodiak149.bsky.social

This what we’re dealing with To all those that stayed home or voted for him F you

I just hope the next Democrat has even half the spine to use the power that they've now given president's. The amount of good that could enter the world would far outdo the bad Trump gets off before he croaks. Just can't have people like Schumer at the helm, tied to norms and procedures

The fact that the Supreme Court is not beholden to anyone on both the speed and the variety of cases they take is absurd to me. Trumps insurrection case, should have been MANDATED argued in front of the supreme court, until they ruled he was or wasn't an insurrectionist. Same with birthright

Chris Hayes@chrislhayes.bsky.social

They rush when they want to rush and they slow walk when they want to slow walk and it’s an ideological decision always in either direction.

If you're going to call everything Trump has done the worst things that have ever happened to the country (and they are), the people should see your submission as tacit approval, and throw you out with them. Im ashamed to call you anything resembling a leader, you do not stand for we the people

Watching Parkergetajob debate Maga folks. Just heard one say "You're smart Parker, smarter than i was at that age, but youre still a kid, your opinions will change". For the life of me, how that infantilizing mentality still works when you think they're smarter than you... i can't wrap my head

This is interesting, because i also personally advocate for these things for myself before even knowing this. Proper channels, long explanatory speeches, wanting committees, precise wording, reviewing previous decisions, cautionary, and concerned about repercussions. Just not the irrelevant

James Ball@jamesrball.com

Just realised what the Your Party shitshow was reminding me of, and it’s the old OSS (CIA forerunner) manual on how to disrupt organisations and meetings. They’re literally running a deep state op on themselves.

🤮 "Itll get better with AI, Crypto, and Quantum" is something that's never ever been said by anyone who understands what those terms mean. These are barely tools, let alone full solutions. Novice plumber with a disorganized toolbox vibes

Olga Nesterova@onestpress.onestnetwork.com

Carney, when asked about limited immigration opportunities for skilled adults: sheer weight of opportunity in US—50% of graduates are going to US (tech sector); I think it’s the demand for the end product - ability to scale in Canada has been limited. A lot will change with AI, crypto and quantum

AI will bring about the elimination of non in-person testing measures. All homework will have to be replaced with tests or projects, most likely completed within class time in front of a supervisor. We could hold that as a "bench line test", where your homework grades are matched/weighted to it

Roxane Gay@roxanegay.bsky.social

I cannot tell you how grim the AI in higher ed situation is. Many of the students have completely surrendered to letting AI do their homework, badly, I might add. How do you fix this? Truly, what the hell do we do, beyond what grading can address, which isn't a solution?
