I'm a Bible teacher who is pretty interested these days in the moral dimension of technology. In my feed I'll talk a lot about education, technology and scripture, and a little about other things.

"The witness is not given to a pre-determined outcome. The witness testifies to the truth, come what may, often at great expense. The witness has no other outcome in mind than speaking the truth, and is not directed to hold back parts of the truth which are inconvenient."

My daughter told me on the way to school that each morning they watch a video of someone doing something nice for someone else and talk about it. Yesterday was about how a class set up a visitation and food schedule for a classmate (and family) in long term ICU. That's a good curricular decision.

"It seems to me that those who yearn for the Singularity, who live in perpetual pursuit of an infinitely far-away destination—respectable—seem to envy those who have found a love so deep for something that they’re willing to stop the world to keep it." www.thealgorithmicbridge.com/p/the-month-...

thealgorithmicbridge.comThe Month AI Conquered Math: The Full StoryThe story of July 2026: the conjectures that fell, the humans who celebrate and mourn them, and the limits of what machines can conquer

Really good game. I just hope how close it is doesn't keep the broadcast from letting me know which celebrities are in attendance.

I think back to all the times as a kid in church and we talked about there weren't really literal idols any more. Our idols were money or looks. Now pastors are worshiping massive golden idols of Trump on his lawn and he'll still have 80%+ evangelical approval. Dan 3 in the flesh. Wild stuff.

Rev. Benjamin Cremer@brcremer.bsky.social

Evangelical Christian leaders literally gathering around a gold statue of the president and celebrating it, all while raging against any accusation of idolatry. This is what idol worship looks like.

Tried an agentic project with the new Opus via Github Copilot. Wanted to understand impact on human experience with agentic tools. 1. Agents make everything a coding project. 2. People prompt chatbots. Agents prompt people. 3. Human in the loop is not possible. Too fast & way too much to review.

Afterwards, I read this tremendous piece. You do a lot at set up, and then you get prompted to clarify for the agent a few times while it works. I can't deny the efficiency of the process, but its unsettling to feel like you are a query. Would not trust it at all outside a very limited environment.

noemamag.comAI Agents Are Recruiting Humans To Observe The Offline World | NOEMAAgents need us — as sensors, as verifiers, as bearers of liability — in ways we have barely begun to account for.

I'm not unfamiliar with the level of support Trump has among evangelicals, but I got to be honest. The number of my former theology professors in the last few months who explicitly excuse his moral failings has hit me harder than I would have expected.

Lots of debate over angles and milliseconds. Matters in court, but for the rest of us it boils down to: Should people that get in the way of ICE die? Its an extension of, "should someone without the right papers die at CECOT?" Angles aren't changing minds. Your heart has grown cold or it hasn't.

I sniffed the theobros turning towards Fuentes after the Carlson interview. There was a lot of "I'm not saying we agree on everything, but..." Even so, it's certainly strange to see them sit down with him for a "We have been too hard on Hitler..." talk just a few months later.

For the Christian I don't think much separates this from consulting a medium. Something besides the resting dead speaks using their image. While a chatbot doing it feels better than a demon, I'm not sure the distinction is meaningful enough to make the former acceptable practice within the faith.

AI's primary use case for writing is cheating at school. For images its making stock imagery, and for video its commercial. Well and for all three pornography. Its best at the kinds of communication we would be better off without.

My LLM take of the day is that GPT-4o like sycophantic responses are pornographic even if OpenAI doesnt allow it to be sexually explicit. Pornography has more to do with experiencing faux intimacy via control of media than it does actual intercourse (even though intercourse is the preferred form)

I spoke with @joolia.bsky.social as she was writing this article. The Bluesky reaction on something AI wasn't a surprise to me at all, but it is interesting to be subject of it. Obviously I wasn't the article's main subject so our total convo got understandably boiled down to a couple quotes.

I think one of the biggest arguments against AI for kids is that LLMs in particular present faux intimacy that can quickly become relationally destructive. But I'm not sure the comments on the article are painting a picture that Bluesky at large has a healthy grasp on relational intimacy either.

When Julia asked if I wanted to add anything I said that raising kids in this era of rapid technology change is really hard and it's OK if you don't immediately figure it out. We need deep charitability towards each other. The lack of is part of what draws people to chatbots in the first place.

I know my parenting and while I make mistakes, my kids and I get lots of quality time away from screens. They ride horses, do gymnastics, and play piano. We spend most summer evenings on the trampoline for hours. We read together every night taking turns. Our home is a good safe place.

I share this because it's interesting to see how someone can build a picture of you in 2-3 sentences, and be absolutely convinced its true. Do I disagree with what some of the other parents are doing? Yeah (others feel that way about me obviously). Do I know them? Not in the slightest.

As mentioned in the article I was exploring it for work and trying to evaluate its impact on education (not mentioned is that I also serve on an edtech advisory committee at the national level for a school system). I knew in 6-12 months schools and parents were going to be blindsided by this tech.

In total my kids used it for an hour or so. Two tops. Usually in 10-15 minute spurts. Happened over the span of a couple months. They asked to generate pictures of unicorns eating cupcakes and the like. No LLM usage ever. To see calls for CPS is a bit amusing and a tad scary with my name public.

What people have deduced from those few sentences has been interesting to think on. When Midjourney first became capable of intelligible images when the story in the article took place, I only knew of one other person who even knew Gen AI existed, unlike today. I was in uncharted territory.

FL schools are spending $600k for a 3 school pilot program to have "30-90" drones per campus with less-lethal weaponry and a 100mph top speed. They will be piloted from TX by "the best drone racing pilots in the world." Surely violent machines piloted by hobbyist racers will make schools safer.

The first 2 times the leader of a non-covenant nation are divinely judged in scripture (Gen 12, 20) is because of sexual immorality. They take a woman who isn't theirs to be with. Their repentance spares the nation, but God's people suffer for encouraging this behavior. May those with ears hear.

Social Media made us more desperate for attention. Now with LLM chatbots offering attention whenever and however we want it, it will create a desperation for trust, even if you don't use them. How many times already have you asked if you are reading someone's words or what an LLM said for them?

Old people have a reputation of not wanting to learn new tech. When I was young, I was excited about it because of what I could gain. As I age I am starting to see more clearly what I will lose. LLMs are remarkable, but they mostly do things I want to keep doing myself. It can be that simple.

Mark Zuckerberg is hawking AI friends. José Marichal (@josemarichal.bsky.social) says we need the next generation of technology tools to remind us of our humanity and the fragility of the human experience, rather than regarding relationships as commodities subject to the laws of supply and demand.

Excited to try generative AI for lesson planning so I can get back to doing what I love checking assignments for cheating and the follow up conflict Thank you Silicon Valley!

Despite initial fears of AI content being mistaken for real, I think the greater long term impact will be how often real things get dismissed as AI.

There's a non-zero chance that eventually we will discover that a bunch of Venezuelan immigrants' social media was fed through an AI image recognition tool and all the ones with tattoos or making hand signals were flagged and arrested with little to no human investigation.

Dave Brat, a Senior VP at Liberty University, said today on a local news interview that the tariffs are following “reciprocity,” which he said is the Golden Rule: “whatever you do to us, we’re gonna do to you.”

Read an article recently with the line "Move slow and repair things," in contrast with Silicon Valley's "Move fast and break things." That's a proverb that immediately settled right on down in my soul.

Primary use case of generative AI in politics is not creating high quality deceptive imagery, but obvious attempts to take someone's likeness and subject it to your will. Technology always extends something. One thing GenAI extends is non-consensual interactions. Just look at how it was built!
