The world itself isn’t ruled by violence. Systems built on domination need violence, threats, and fear to keep going. Patriarchy can last a long time. It already has. But that doesn’t mean it can create a just or sustainable future. At its core, it’s built around control, not shared flourishing.

Be truthful without becoming cruel. Be courageous without becoming arrogant. Be compassionate without becoming naive. And stay human inside systems that often reward the opposite.

Culture explains behavior; it doesn’t excuse harm. No culture has a moral exemption from consent and safety.

Freedom of belief doesn’t include freedom to coerce. When belief becomes a system that restricts consent, exit, or safety, it deserves scrutiny—not deference.

Mark Twain did not say “No amount of evidence will ever persuade an idiot.” There’s no reliable source for it. But Twain did write similar ideas, e.g.: “How easy it is to make people believe a lie, and how hard it is to undo that work again!”
