And as has been very requested: this week's top teams by average ranking in the five active BCS-era computers. No humans involved here! (Other than the ones that generated the formulas to begin with):

This week’s simulated BCS rankings are here as Miami and Ohio State hold on to the top two spots, while the rest of the top 25 sees plenty of reshuffling compared to last week’s edition:

We’re back! The first simulated BCS standings of 2026 are in, and they sort neatly into tiers: Georgia and Notre Dame up top, then Miami/Indiana/Ohio State, followed by duos and trios before a cliff after No. 12:

With the last piece of the simulated BCS puzzle locked into place, the official side-by-side bracket ends up looking a bit closer than it did this morning. However the key difference remains: the BCS prefers Notre Dame, the committee preferred Miami.

With just the conference championship games left, let's compare how the current committee rankings and simulated BCS would seed their respective 12-team playoffs: (Assuming higher ranked teams win their respective conference auto-bids)

With last night’s committee rankings release, let’s compare how the committee would seed a 12-team playoff vs. how the BCS would seed one: (And yes, know that Miami has a tough road to that 11-seed in both brackets — choosing conference champion by highest rank here).

In the first 12-team edition of the college football playoff, the simulated #BCS and the committee include 11 of the same teams, disagreeing only on Alabama vs. SMU. Here's your side-by-side brackets under both:

The simulated #BCS is out and it would seed the 12-team playoff in its own way. In nine of the 10 years prior, the committee included the exact same teams in its four-team playoff as the #BCS would've. We'll see soon how 2024 will compare:

As many of you have correctly pointed out, yesterday's simulated #BCS rankings would give us a fascinating potential 12-team playoff. We’ll see how the College Football Playoff committee’s version of this bracket looks tomorrow:

With the regular season complete, let's take a look our second-to-last simulated #BCS rankings of the year, where Notre Dame slides past Penn State to No. 3 and Boise State cracks the top 10:

After some misalignments on bracket seeding last week, the simulated #BCS and tonight's @CFBPlayoff fill out striking similar 12-team playoff brackets (if the season ended today) — reordering three of four road teams in the opening round:

As we close in on the final frames of the season, let's take a look at how the simulated #BCS rankings would judge this year so far — featuring a perfect-scoring No. 1 Oregon and some rearrangement in the top 10:

The most interesting side-by-side 12-team brackets so far this season has a different set of bye teams and some fascinating matchup differences from the committee and the simulated #BCS. However! The same 12 teams:

Here’s our most up-to-date look at what the #BCS would look like were it still alive to grade the 2024 season to date. Losses by BYU and Tennessee clear out some space in the top 10 for a bit of a rankings shuffle:

Not much separates this week’s simulated #BCS and the CFP committee’s just-released rankings. Three one-spot flip-flops in the top 17 give way for a little disagreement further down the list. Which do you prefer? Compare the entire top 25 right here:

The simulated #BCS is here — and it's fascinating. Georgia and Michigan pull away, FSU and Washington settle into the top four and 5-8 is bunched up, all setting up the final weekend. The full top 25:

You are up to date.
