The NHS has problems because since the 1980s it has been slowly privatised. Margaret Thatcher outsourced catering, cleaning and many other services Labour and the Conservatives PFI schemes forced them to sell hospitals and rent them back. It costs of tens of billions a year.

Reform UK want to take public spending down to 35% of GDP — that’s a £275 billion cut, the equivalent of shutting down the NHS. The Green Party knows the only way to rebuild our communities is by investing in our public services, not running them down and flogging them off to the private sector.

Five corporations control 90% of the US media market. Airlines merged from 12 major carriers in 1980 to 4 today. Four giants control 80% of meat processing. A handful of companies control the pharmaceutical industry. The evidence of corporate concentration is everywhere.

Refugese aren't the reason we're struggling to pay our bills. Refugees aren't the reason prices have shot up. Refugees aren't the reason your grandma is freezing. Blame the companies (who raised your bills for more profits) for that not innocent asylum seekers.

immigration isn’t to blame for housing shortages

General Boles@generalboles.bsky.social

Could someone smarter than me explain how the Greens reconcile their 'come one, come all' immigration policy with their 'build absolutely nothing anywhere near anything' housing policy?

Hey British media, It’s no surprise that if you give Farage the run of the place, he’ll start winning. Time to do your actual jobs and start interrogating him on his Brexit shitshow, his funding, his Trumpiness, his idiotic manifesto, his real plans for the NHS… instead of drumrolling him into No.10

When we put our minds to something (like the rescue of British Steel) it is never impossible to pull it off. As usual bold plans from @UKLabour and more side stepping and false compassion from the Conservatives and Reform UK.

The Torries: STEPPING ASIDE. Reform: STEPPING ASIDE. British steel put at risk. Labour: Swooping in and stepping not just in, but forward. Aren't you glad we elected @UKLabour so they were able to do the right thing, not just in this situation, but in many others as well.

Headed to Westminster today to support the Government’s action to save British Steel. Vital we preserve the future of UK steel and protect jobs. Thanks to Parliament’s staff who’ve dedicated their weekend to supporting us and our democracy. #LabourSavesSteel #SaveOurSteel

Poor Labour. They get so much hate, despite the fact that all they're trying to do is fix the mess the tories left them. Let's just break down what the Conservatives put us through in their 14 years of being in power. Shall we? /1

You may also remember the revolving door of Prime Ministers. The minny budget and the disastrous fall out from Truss-enomics. We lost 30 billion pounds thanks to that budget. 30 billion pounds that could have helped our NHS! /4

The great names in the history of Labour party Prime Ministers, which include Clement Attlee, Harold Wilson, Toney Blair and Gordon Brown can now welcome the new addition of Keir Starmer! Our Prime Minister. Our man for Britain!

Then, last year, we voted for change. We voted to help the struggling worker. To safe guard the local business person, to rebuild the country back to being the proud bastion of integrity it had been in 2010 before the Conservatives came back to power. /10

Mean while, Britain achieved the record of being the hardest place to find a home in the developed world, among others which included: The lowest state pension in EUROPE and also having the highest train fairs in Europe. The Conservatives sure broke the wrong records. /9

As you fought tooth and nail to keep open the small high street business you devoted your life to, the Lib Dems and the Conservatives collaborated to tare it down. Brick by brick along with our country. Workers became 11 grand worse, off a year. /8

Austerity broke Britain. It eroded our public services, made the working classes poorer and made the rich much, much richer. But let us not forget that it was not just David Cameron and George Osborn who started up that economic killing machine. /6

11% inflation, which left families having to choose between eating and heating. Between comfort and in some cases, surviving! Is this the mark of a good government? Double figure inflation? Grown up conversations having to be had about simply living? /2

I'm sure some of you will have participated in those conversations. Those conversations which were considered the norm in probably the 1st century. But we're in the 21st century now, and those times should be 20 thousand years behind us./3

It's amazing how few people in the UK realise that the last time the world went in to a massive financial tailspin, albeit one not directly caused by the President of the USA, it was Gordon Brown & the late Alistair Darling who provided the sort of international leadership desperately needed now.
