My garden crew was here all morning ripping out drought-dead plants, putting in new drought-and-deluge-tolerant plants and trimming low tree limbs...and I've heard the sound of "cha-CHING" in my ears all day. (My backyard garden looks fabulous though.)

The kid from “Empire of the Sun” done good.

I absolutely LOVE this. Christian Bale spent roughly 17 years fighting to make this happen. This week, his foster-care village opened in Palmdale, California: 12 homes built specifically to help keep siblings together when they enter foster care.

It occurs to me that it's highly likely that the very same people who called me a traitor for not supporting the Iraq War after 0/11 and who chastised me for not putting one of those [expletive deleted] "Support Our Troops" ribbon magnets on my car are the ones still supporting Trump.

I love this. Senate candidate Annie Andrews says she decided to jump into the race the day RFK Jr was nominated to lead HHS. She’s a pediatrician. Saw what was coming & decided she couldn’t sit on the sidelines. THIS is what I’m talking about. Feeling called to serve & actually following through.

Clarence Thomas says the 14th Amendment should be read narrowly because it was written for formerly enslaved people. By that logic, the 2nd Amendment was written for muskets, not AR-15s. Funny how that kind of originalism only shows up when it's convenient.

Well played, sir.

Damn Colbert is a treasure. He very knowingly and intentionally played Linus and Lucy on the air, and the copyright holder joyfully got a fine out of CBS for it and then donated it to World Central kitchen. www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv...

I really hope Jon Ossoff’s entire campaign isn’t just variations on “Trump bad.” I’d like to see some substance. I know he has it. But the focus on Trump gives Trump free publicity. Voters want to know what he has done and will do for THEM.

What restaurants does he go to where you have to show ID? Does me mean to buy alcohol? I guarantee you, no one is carding Todd Blanche.

Blanche: "There's a lot of things we can be doing, like voter ID. Every time you walk into a restaurant you have to show ID. How about you have to show your idea to vote? That's not anything that's crazy."

Is anyone surprised that the sex predator president leader of a party rife with sex predators has recruited sex predators for ICE?

Prem Thakker ツ@premthakker.bsky.social

Just in the past few months in Minnesota, there have been as many ICE employees arrested for sex trafficking as there's been people executed by ICE agents

Layoffs just hit their highest start-of-year total since January 2009 — the height of the Great Recession — according to data tracking firm Challenger. Meanwhile, CEO pay and corporate profits continue to hit record highs. Does anyone still believe that trickle-down tax cuts create jobs?

But whose?

Robert Reich@rbreich.bsky.social

$1.5T military budget $170B for ICE and Border Patrol (over 4 years) $100B on tax cuts for the 1% (per year) $1B to refurbish Trump's Qatar jet $496M to send National Guard into cities $200M for Kennedy Center renovations $200M for Kristi Noem's jets $100M for Trump's golf outings Priorities.

Amazon has cut a combined 28,000 jobs since October. Its CEO made $40M+ in 2024 UPS has announced 78,000 job cuts since last year. Its CEO made $24M. HP announced up to 6,000 layoffs in November. Its CEO made $21M. This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.

I recognize that Democrats are in the minority. But even if making a lot of noise is all they can do, they need to do it. Let them stand outside the Capitol with whistles…introduce a flurry of bills that they know won’t go anywhere. Sternly-worded tweets aren’t enough.

This isn’t immigration policy. It’s a business model. ICE keeps growing, not because it makes America safer, but because corporations are raking in billions off cages, bodies, and suffering. ICE’s existence is a massive revenue stream.

Pew Research Institute (2023): • Red State Texas has about 2.1 million undocumented immigrants • Red State Florida has 1.6 M undocumented immigrants • Blue State Minnesota has 130,000. And yet only Minnesota is being occupied by masked thugs over "immigration." It's *not* about immigration.

The only thing that kept me same last night was watching three good friends supporting each other as they all won medals at US Figure Skating Championships. Who won what medal didn’t seem to matter to them. How about we let women run things for a while?

In America you drop your kid off at school, get your brains blown out on the ride home, then the Vice President drops everything for a week to call you a terrorist, to slander your family, to protect the circumstances that led to your death so they can do it again. It is government by Alex Jones.
