Our Social Media Community Guidelines are live!
We saw a problem in the discourse and stood up for it.
Each guideline is its own linkable page, built to actually get used. Pull the one that fits, drop it in a reply, send it to someone who needs it.

The knock-on effect is that if you really want to do something to help others, you might not be able to as with the current cost of living, you'd not earn enough to survive.
This is a big deal for basic income. A European Citizens' Initiative can put UBI in front of the European Commission, but it needs people to prepare now. If you're in Europe, please reach out and consider how you can help.
Our ECI starts on the 4th of January 2027.
Today (Monday, 26. Oct. 2026), there are only: 70 days (10 weeks) left.
Come join us and help us prepare the ECI. Contact us at info@basic-income.eu

Billionaires say their wealth is just unrealized gains and can't be taxed. Yet somehow the ultra-wealthy found nearly half a billion in cash to influence this year's midterms.
#TaxBillionaires support #UniversalBasicIncome
The only reason a billionaire’s threat to leave works is that losing a job can mean losing everything. A basic income changes that, because workers aren’t held hostage while the market adjusts. No more economic blackmail. UBI and just #TaxBillionaires
"But how do we pay for it?"
Pay for what, capitalism? We already are. Caregivers, interns, wage theft, subsidies, bailouts, our data, the environment. Nobody asks for a funding source there.
🤷 How about capitalism steps up and pays for basic income?
These people got around a grand a month for a year. That's it. Chump change, in the grand scheme, to help people find stability, some dignity, a future.
UBI works. We should be doing this everywhere.

Basic income is a top issue this BC election.
Almost half of British Columbians have a Green candidate who signed our pledge to work towards guaranteed basic income if elected.
This would be a generational investment in BC's future.
We try to find people who support our UBI ECI in all major cities of the EU:
Try to organize a local group to support the ECI in your city!

The @reuters.com headline isn’t the $80B loss. It’s what that money is buying: a shot at the $15.7 trillion US labor economy. Not billions. Trillions in wages. If AI captures that, who pays the people? That’s why we need basic income. (13:00) youtu.be/FS_hLDTDI1w?t=781
ource: US workers earned about $15.7 trillion in total compensation in 2025 ($13T in wages plus $2.8T in benefits), per the Bureau of Economic Analysis. fred.stlouisfed.org/series/A033RC1A027NBEA

Major Harvard Study on kids PROVED UBI works.

UBI is how we invest in the next generation.
Did you know the 1st UBI proposal was born out of a struggle for land rights in the 1770s?
As Dorothy Woodend writes in The Tyee, the concept is "extremely old," rooted in the idea that the leadership class "fenced people out" from the resources they needed to survive.
Kindness like this deserves to be celebrated. But dignity shouldn’t depend on a stranger showing up with a camera. A basic income floor lets people decide for themselves what they need most, whether that’s a shower, a room, or a bus pass. UBI is economic security for everyone.

I check in daily with a couple Dear Friends. I listen - without prejudice, with presence - to their day, or whatever they are full of.
I feel Rich. This fuels my soul and fills My Heart. Most times they listen to me, too.
What do you do every day that no one pays you for? Quote this post with yours, then add “I’d be rich.”
Example: “Caring for Mom through dementia, every appointment and every sleepless night, on top of my job. I’d be rich.” #UBI#BasicIncome
Unpaid work: emotional labor, caregiving, chores, art

Unpaid work is often called women’s work, but all of us carry something society never pays for. Tell us the work you do out of love, duty, or exhaustion. The work expected of you, or that just falls on you without question. It counts. Then add “I’d be rich.”
UBI: because all work counts
»The truth is that a guaranteed adequate income for everybody is the only answer to poverty in this country«
»If I were paid for all the work I did every day, I’d be rich.«
-- Johnie Tillmon, in her essay »Welfare Is a Women’s Issue«

"Tax our wealth and provide basic income and we'll all leave and everyone will stop working," says the person with way too much wealth who never stops wanting more more more more more.
New working paper: the Norwegian wealth tax was a huge success. The "exodus" of wealthy people never happened (less than 100 individuals left). Tax revenue increased by 71.5%. No changes in business activity or investment.

One of the knock-on benefits of Universal Basic income, would be that people would not need to waste time on forms, and could use that time for projects, growing vegetables and many many more things.
Believing some people can never be persuaded is itself a view that can change. That's the work we're doing at Basic Income Action. We believe everyone is a supporter, they just don't know it yet.
Tomorrow! The Basics of Basic Income, 5:30 to 7pm at Mountlake Terrace Library. Know someone in the Seattle area who's curious about UBI? Tag them below and bring a friend! #BasicIncome#UBI

"Being poor is living in one long emergency, with no resources." An emergency doesn't ask if you've proven you deserve help first, it demands a response. A basic income is that response, a standing floor so no one has to survive crisis after crisis with nothing to fall back on.
Watch "Why The Rich Think The Poor Are Lazy" by @barryseconomics.bsky.social
It gets at exactly this, scarcity changes how people think and act, not who they are. Lift the floor on someone, remove the pressure, and that "laziness" narrative falls apart.

The work that makes money relies on the vast amount of work that doesn't. Basic income recognizes both, supporting the work such as that of care, creative work, research and study, and acting in the commons.

Notice how checks always come with strings attached? Promised if this passes, if that happens, if you support the deal. They know it works.
Let's stop treating people's stability like a negotiation. Basic income ends the bargaining
Some say billionaires created the value behind their wealth. Others say they built it through extraction. Either way: a market choice is only free if you can say no. If refusing a bad deal means losing rent or food, is it really a choice?
We're arguing free choice. Basic income is free choice.
If I’m learning anything it’s
Proportional representation
Tax land not work
Provide basic housing
Provide basic income
Provide basic healthcare
Provide basic mobility
Provide basic education.
Welfare asks "do you qualify?" A right asks "are you a member of the community?"
Basic income is more than money. It's a claim, a right to access, our shared share of what we all inherit and build together.
