There are few things in life that I hate more than listening to my own voice, but I was lucky to share this keynote session with MIT’s Michael Cusumano, so this reposting is for him. Please stop listening at minute 47!

Rewatch the keynotes to “Innovation in the AI age”, with Michael Cusumano @mitsloan.bsky.social and @basharnuseibeh.bsky.social, hosted by @eugeniaunivie.bsky.social. #DigHum2025 #Recap

Fred Brooks: “The hardest single part of building a software system is deciding precisely what to build; the most important function that software builders do for their clients is the iterative extraction & refinement of the product requirements” Requirements engineering is where LLMs need to play?

Tudor Girba@tudorgirba.com

The bottleneck in software engineering is not writing code. It’s reading it. LLMs just make it more obvious.

Our open access textbook on an “Introduction to Digital Humanism“ has just reached 500,000 downloads since it was published in January 2024! It’s open access, so you can download it for free at the link below. #DigitalHumanism #ResponsibleSoftwareEngineering link.springer.com/book/10.1007...

A pleasure working with my co-editors @Hannes Werthner, Carlo Ghezzi, Erich Prem, Jeff Kramer, Julian Nida-Rümelin, Allison Stanger, and executive editor Dmitri Katz 🤝 Thanks to financial support by EPSRC and The Open University.

I’m attending an NSF workshop in Virginia on ‘designing accountable software systems’. I’m surrounded by bright, articulate US professors drawn from many disciplines: engineering, law, business & social sciences. All to whom I have spoken are horrified, nervous, depressed, resigned by what may come.

Hallucinations = bad 😡 Silver lining: Grandparent helping grandson with homework = good 😍

Reuben Binns@rdbinns.bsky.social

The amount of time that will be wasted by students, and even apparently their grandparents, chasing after fake AI-generated citations is thoroughly depressing

A very helpful thread, with some useful references, if you are new to blue sky and wondering about investing time on it.. thank you for posting it Wolfie ..

I appreciate Bluesky for now. Everything's better than the far-right oligarch's platform, there aren't many viable alternatives, Bluesky has gained real traction, and currently it seems to just work well for a wide range of communities. Still, I'm skeptical about long-term prospects.

You are up to date.
