I've been drawing animals over the last year and I'm excited to share they will be featured in my card game that is launching in September on Kickstarter. If you or anyone you know likes animals and competitive card games, check out our website 🦀: barracudagames.ca #sciart #wildlifeart

Fall is here, and that means the red squirrels are changing their coats! In autumn the red squirrel goes from this thinner summer coat, to a thicker winter coat that will feature tufts of hair coming up from its ears. #sciart

With their long digestive tract, specially designed for Eucalyptus, a Koala can eat tough and poisonous Eucalyptus leaves all day long! And then sleep for 18 hours of course. #sciart #koala

Today we have the Giraffe, a herbivore who loves acacia trees and other leafy greens. They are the tallest living land animal and use their height to spot predators approaching from far away. Apologies for the delay in animal art, preparing for the card game launch has been keeping me busy! #sciart

The Baryonyx is believed to have spent its days roaming near water and scooping up fish with its big claws. They lived about 125 million years ago and are considered part of the same family as the Spinosaurus! #baryonyx #sciart #dinosaurart

Here is a big cat for your Sunday! The Jaguar’s patterns are called rosettes and these cats live in South and Central America. They are expert swimmers and the third largest cat in the world. 🐱 #bigcats #jaguar #cat #sciart

Seahorses are extremely agile but terrible swimmers. They use their prehensile tail to hold onto various coral and vegetation. The most unique thing about them though is that the male gives birth to new young. #seahorse #sciart

Trash panda Friday, I appreciate these cute and clever locals a lot. Raccoons use their dexterous hands to open just about anything. They are also opportunistic eaters, allowing them to adapt quickly to new environments. #raccoon #sciart

A Venus fly trap polymer clay figurine I’ve made for Bay Area carnivorous plant show showroom’s artwork section last weekend 🌿 it’s a lot of fun making plant themed figurines then adding a smoool bug friend to it!

TIL the Pallas’s cat is also known as a Manul. They have unique pupils for a cat, contracting into circles rather than vertical slits. Although fluffy they are aggressive and live mostly solitary lives in crevices and caves. #sciart #cat #manul

Fun fact: the polar bear is actually considered a marine mammal because they depend on marine ecosystems— yet they’re also considered the biggest land carnivore in the world! Let’s do our part in preventing climate change so these big bears still have the arctic ice 🧊 #sciart #polarbear

An aquatic reptile for this Thursday, I present to you the Ichthyosaurus! Notable for having unusually large eyes for its time, they also gave live birth allowing them to live full lives underwater. They also had a bunch of tiny sharp teeth…. #sciart #paleoart #Ichthyosaur

Leopard geckos are nocturnal and have the ability to drop their tail when grabbed from behind. They also have moveable eyelids which is actually pretty uncommon for geckos 🦎 #sciart #gecko

Meet the Archaeopteryx, other than a sick name a fantastic set of feathers, this dinosaur astonished scientists by being one of the first late Jurassic dinosaur fossils to have avian features. It is considered a pretty strong link between bird and dinosaur. #sciart #paleoart #archaeopteryx

Any mice fans out there? Wood mice mainly eat seeds and often store them in burrows for snacks later. They also leave twigs and leaves as little landmarks to help them return home as they venture out looking for food. What’s your favourite kind of mouse? #sciart #mice #mouse

The Plains Zebra is nomadic, non territorial, and super social. I also just learned they form groups of up to 15 boys called “bachelor herds” that just play all day long. #sciart #zebra

I give you the blue poison dart frog 🐸! Their poison comes from the insects they eat, and they won’t be poisonous if they are in captivity without their natural diet. They are basically little poison alchemists, turning the compounds they eat into poison within themselves. #sciart #dartfrog #frog

Another bird that I have a soft spot for is the Rock Dove, also known as the Rock Pigeon. These folks live in flocks of 50 - 500 birds, and can communicate danger by flapping their wings at varying speeds. #birdart #sciart #pigeon

Happy Bio Diversity Day! Thank you Anomalocaris and all the other radiodonts. You were truly unique. One of the first apex predators, you were glorious. #sciart #paleoart #anomalocaris

The tyrant lizard king! This monster of a dinosaur is well known and for good reason, it was likely an apex predator of its time with an extremely powerful bite. #sciart #paleoart #tyrannosaurs

Ah the brown bear. When I learned about hibernation as a kid, this was the first animal they told me about. Something about a winter nap that lasted 5 - 8 months really appealed to me. Brown bears are also known to cache their food for a snack later. #sciart #bear #brownbear

It’s Wednesday and that means it’s moose facts time. This absolute unit of a herbivore can eat 70 pounds of shrubs and twigs a day. Weighing in at up to 1600 pounds fully grown, you don’t want to be close by when they decide to sprint 55km/h. #sciart #moose #animalfacts

I’m working on some special cards for a Kickstarter Exclusive prehistoric pack and wanted to hear your suggestions! Let me know what kind of prehistoric animal you would like to see in the pack! 🦕 #paleoart #sciart #spinosaurus #dinosaur

I share with you today a ‘Tommie’, they can reach 80-90 km/h, and for good reason, they are usually hunted by the fastest land animal the Cheetah. If that doesn’t make you speedy I don’t know what will. #sciart #gazelle #animalart

Not only do Fiddler Crabs have one big claw and one little claw, they also build elaborate burrows for mating and wave their big claw to attract a partner. 👋🦀 #sciart #fiddlercrab #crab

I present to you the Rock Ptarmigan, official bird of Nunavut, and a member of the grouse family. With their own set of furry snow pants these birds thrive in the remote regions of the Arctic. #grouse #ptarmigan #sciart #birdart

This bird has a special place in my heart. The Western Gull is a constant reminder of the sea and also a funny opportunistic eater that likes french fries just as much as I do. #sciart #birdart #gull

I love these semi aquatic mammals. River otters are extraordinary divers and can hold their breath for about 8 minutes. I learned they also have a little poop dance? #sciart #Mustelids #otter

Shoutout to the highly adaptable and speedy Coyote! I see these around the city every once in a while but I didn’t realize they can run up to 65km/hr…. #sciart #coyote

Red panda! Just like their namesake the panda, they eat a lot of bamboo. It makes up 95% of their diet so they can be considered folivores. 🌿🌱 #redpanda #sciart #animalart
