Chaos of my desk

My mother's family is from the Eastern Townships of Quebec, and I spent summers there as a kid. As a teenager I found an album by Blind Willie Johnson at a music store in Sherbrooke. I was transfixed (still am) by his playing and singing. mississippirecords.bandcamp.com/track/everyb...

Honoured that Seedhead is Release of the Week on @spaceitpradio.bsky.social 🙏

There are still tapes available! I poured everything into this album, & feel quiet and haunted as a fallow field or a silent flickering cathedral as I watch it drift off into the world. Hard place to be in while doing "promo," I must say.

Adrian Copeland (Alder & Ash on @losttribesound.bsky.social) wrote a stellar string arrangement for this song. It also features Jeff Bird on lap steel and upright bass. Jeff re-imagines Hildegard von Bingen's music for harmonica, and plays with Cowboy Junkies. aviengel.bandcamp.com/track/storm-...

I have an acoustic guitar in my life again for the first time in a while. Lately I've been figuring out how to play songs I wrote on my electric four-string on this wonderfully resonant little beast.

I (a secular half-Jew) love this, and it really has to be watched all the way through at least twice to be appreciated. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lajx...

PRE-ORDER Avi Engel “Seedhead” cruelnaturerecordings.bandcamp.com/album/seedhead @aviengel.com ’s “Seedhead” is a slow-burning, folk-infused song cycle that weaves voice, electric guitar, field recordings, and collaborative instrumentation into an ecological threnody and spiritual meditation.

Feeling so down about the state of the world, AI, etc, & have a sense of pointlessness and doom that has gotten entrenched & hard to shake at this point. What is your antidote/coping strategy (if you have one)?

Any advice re: what sort of PA system/amp I should rent for a quiet outdoor back patio show? Solo vox + electric guitar. (I miss the one good aspect of FB, where I could post something like this and invariably get at least 5 or so answers, often with an argument erupting in the comments...)
