Just because someone is a Senator, doesn’t mean they are bright. America has long stopped sending their best and brightest to serve on Capitol Hill! Also, many bright black and brown people, and women, have been sidelined for dunce white men. Shame on America.

Sen. Eric Schmitt accused Jack Smith of perjury for denying he attended a Feb. 3, 2024 Atlanta Hawks vs. Golden State Warriors game. Turns out, Jack Smith was actually at an Iowa Hawkeyes game in Maryland, watching Caitlin Clark play. @samsteindc.bsky.social breaks down Schmitt's humiliation:

@hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social , be more nuanced in your response to questions about DS; take a page from Republicans. They don't openly repudiate racists because they are still a constituency/voters. Dems will need DS and their votes/ enthusiasm; say that we are a tent w/ different views.

Took the stage this weekend at the GA Democratic Convention where democrats are fired up to send a science voice to Congress because we value truth and facts over lies, and epidemiologists and researchers over conspiracy theorists!

Not blaming, but the “CHIP 50” report noted that “…50% of AAPI respondents nationally chose Harris, versus 31% for Trump. Nationally, the general population was roughly split, with 40% for Harris and 38% for Trump.” Next time, vote your interest and not fall for the lies and bs.

I will say this; it’s rich to feign disgust when schools, coaches, athletic directors, etc. benefit from the revenue generated from gambling. They get TV money from companies that sell ads promoting gambling; They get TV money from ESPN, who is (partly) a gambling company.

espn.comCoaches, ADs 'disgusted,' 'stunned' with Brendan Sorsby rulingA judge's decision to rule Texas Tech's Brendan Sorsby eligible Monday drew the ire of college coaches and athletic directors, with reactions ranging from doomsday predictions to informal talk about Big 12 schools attempting to not play the Red Raiders.

I don’t ever what to hear anything about minorities and their qualifications for positions. I have more qualifications than this 🤡

Bill Pulte is unserious, unqualified, disliked, ill-prepared, and inexperienced. So, perfectly qualified for this White House. Read about that and more in today's Morning Shots: www.thebulwark.com/p/bill-pulte...

The Republican-led House Armed Services Committee introduced the first draft of its marquee defense policy bill, authorizing a record $1.14 trillion in military spending for the coming fiscal year.

I’m a bit torn on this one. With NIL, these athletes have a unique opportunity to bring wealth to their families; calling on them to bear some of the burden of a boycott is not fair. We need to do this collectively; no concerts or events, no HBCU Classics, no vacations, etc.

The editorial cartoonist's pen is one of the sharpest tools in journalism, whittling issues down to basics for satire or rage. I'm proud to say that my long-ago colleague, Milt Priggee, is unafraid to shock with a tough point of view.

Good starting point

Guaranteed paid leave. Ending algorithmic price-gouging by big grocery chains. Abolishing Super PACs. It's not enough for Democrats to simply oppose Trump. They must offer working people something to vote FOR. The Congressional Progressive Caucus' Affordability Agenda is an excellent start.

Silver lining; Minorities that did not participate in democracy and who are complacent or oblivious to the hardships that can be levied on them are about to find out. Hopefully, the response is greater community, focus on self/us over others, etc. Hardships can breed strength!

Exclusive: Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry (R) told Republican House candidates that he plans to suspend next month’s primary elections so state lawmakers can pass a new congressional map first, according to people with knowledge of the calls.
