We organised a stargazing party in Sankt Andreasberg. I’m delighted that so many wonderful guests came along to enjoy the dark night sky up there. Alongside interesting talks and good conversations, I captured ionized oxygen and hydrogen in this part of the Eastern Veil Nebula. 🔭🤩🧪 #Astrophotography

Fantastic Jupiter, Kelsi 👍🔭🧪

Kelsi@kelsispace.bsky.social

My favorite jupiter capture with ganymede surface features visible and not to toot my own horn but probably the most detail I've ever seen captured with a 5" telescope

The open star cluster NGC 6823 in the constellation Vulpecula is surrounded by the beautiful emission nebula NGC 6820. The object just fits on my camera’s sensor, so I photographed it in early summer and accumulated a good 8 h of exposure time. 🔭 #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

Are you sure it‘s not a romulan warbird 👽🛸🔭🧪🤣 Definitely a very nice image, Bernd 👌

Amazing images, Andreas. I feel so happy for you two to have experienced this event in such a nice place, without nasty clouds and to take such fantastic pictures as memories with you. Looking forward to the long story at the STATT in Sankt Andreasberg 🔭🧪

We’re back from Spain and I’ve finally had a chance to look through my photos of the total solar #eclipse. We were able to watch the eclipse perfectly from south-east of León – at the edge of a sunflower field. What an experience! #Sonnenfinsternis #astrophotography 🔭

Beautiful, Nico 🤩👏 The southern skies have such amazing sights. 🔭🧪

The Large Magellanic Cloud captured from Chile last week. I took this with my Canon Ra, RF85 F1.2 lens, and a Move Shoot Move Nomad tracker. About 3 hours total integration. #astrophotography

The English version of the Siril book is now available. If you want to learn how to process astronomical images with Siril, from the basics to more advanced techniques, this book is made for you. You can find it here: Siril.us

That‘s a nice one, Bernd! The long integration time really pays off with all those nice details 👋🔭🧪🤩

My image of 'The Tadpoles of IC410' is today's NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day! Check it out here: apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap26031... #astrophotography

Nice catch, Bernd! I like the rough texture of the galaxy with all the detailed substructures 👍🧪🔭

It looks as if it was made of three independently rotating discs like the time turner in Harry Potter novels. Thank your for the beautiful image of this celestial wonder 🧪🔭🚀

The spiral galaxy M 94 in Canes Venatici is an easy object to observe due to its bright centre with an inner ring of young stars. This photo, which I took over 3 nights in January with an exposure time of 12 h, also shows the faint outer ring of stars. #astrophotography 🔭 @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

#PPOD: This stunning image from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope reveals a dramatic interplay of light and shadow in the Egg Nebula, sculpted by freshly ejected stardust. Located approximately 1000 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus, the Egg Nebula features a central star... 🧪 🔭

Beautiful, Andreas. You propelled M1 a few places up on my wanted list. Did not expect it to be this detailed with a C8 🔭🤩🧪

Andreas Fischer@afischer.bsky.social

The Crab Nebula (M 1) in the constellation Taurus was the second prominent supernova remnant that I captured this January. It is already visible with larger binoculars, but all the nice filaments only show up in the photo. Total integration: 6h 26min #astrophotography 🔭 @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

Fantastic, Andreas. Ist’s a nice target well captured 🧪🔭🤩

Andreas Fischer@afischer.bsky.social

The Jellyfish Nebula (IC 443), a prominent supernova remnant in the constellation Gemini, was my first attempt at a mosaic. The idea only came to me during data collection, but after some challenging editing, I am kind of happy with the result. 🔭 #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

Currently, several weaker comets are at least bright enough to be photographed. I captured 24P/Schaumasse on 17 January and the fragmented #comet C/2025 K1 (ATLAS) back on 26 December 2025. Their very different appearances are definitely worth further observation #astrophotography 🔭

Finally, here is my composite image of the #Geminids peak on 13/14 December 2025. It was by far my most successful observation of a #MeteorShower, with over 260 meteors within 5 hours - what a night! The image is a composite of 61 individual shots of 15s and contains 65 Geminids. #Astrophotography 🔭

A beautiful way to eine the year! Wishing you all the best for 2026 🤩🔭

Andreas Fischer@afischer.bsky.social

That was a tough one: The galaxy M74 in the constellation Pisces (and the weather) gave me some trouble, but I'm quite happy with my final image. This is a combined exposure time of 13 h with the L-Pro & IDAS NB12, which brought out the H-alpha regions #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

This is #comet C/2025 K1 (ATLAS) from 11 December with two distinct nucleus fragments. It has changed significantly compared to my image from 22 November - and it has clearly reduced its relative speed, as I was able to expose for a little longer this time... #astrophotography 🔭

A little late to the party, but here's last weekend's sun with massive sunspots, captured with a Nikon D5600 + Tamron 150-600 at 600 mm (f/8; ISO100; stack of 10 x 1/100 s) through thin clouds #astrophotography #sunphotography 🔭

Very interesting! Well done, Andreas 🔭🤩

Andreas Fischer@afischer.bsky.social

#Comet C/2025 K1 (ATLAS) showed three clearly recognisable fragments of its nucleus on 22 November, and it appeared brighter than I had expected. Due to its fast movement relative to the stars, I could only take 20-second exposures through the C8 (image is a stack of 100 subs) #astrophotography

Beautiful image, Andreas. Nice details and some mystical dust 🧪🔭

Andreas Fischer@afischer.bsky.social

The Pacman Nebula NGC 281 in Cassiopeia had been on my wish list for several years, and now, over the course of 4 nights in September & October, I finally got it. Visually not an easy object due to light pollution, but really fun to photograph (tech. details in image) 🔭 @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) taken on 19 October from the roof of our garage at 135 mm focal length (stack of 192 10s-subs). Despite thin clouds and streetlights between the comet and me, the gas & dust tails are clearly visible in different colors. Brings back memories of Hale-Bopp #astrophotography

Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) in the early hours of 3 October, captured through the C8 with an ASI294mc and additionally with a Nikon D5600 and a Tamron 70-200 at a focal length of 130 mm. The #comet was also nice to observe visually and will hopefully brighten significantly. #astrophotography

Amazing! The name ist quite apt. One can see all the delicious bits an pieces 🫠 Glad you had clear night in France to capture this.

Weil done! Your new camera seems to keep you up an out. Looking forward to your next projects as the nights keep getting longer 🔭

Andreas Fischer@afischer.bsky.social

The Snowglobe Nebula (NGC6781) is a beautiful and rather bright planetary nebula in the constellation Aquila. It is also visually a nice object. In August, I photographed it with an ASI294mc Pro through my C8 with a total exposure time of 5 hours. #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

That is an amazing image, Bernd! Congratulations 👏 58h is well beyond my longest integration time and really pays off in [OIII]. Definitely an inspiration to go deeper the next time I get the chance, too.

After two months of clouds, I finally got to spend a few nights under the stars again 😀🧪🔭✨ Messier 81 or Bode’s Nebula would be a little smaller than the moon and about half as tall, if it was bright enough. Right above is our youngest companion galaxy, the dwarf galaxy Holmberg IX.
