Trying to explain this record to people… “It’s a country shoegaze album about the second coming of Jesus in Texas”. The album cover looks like ass until you listen to the music and then you realize it’s perfect.

This record feels like it shouldn’t exist and somehow also has existed since the dawn of time. music.apple.com/us/album/the...

I am not a Sophie Truax fan. I am not a hater. I am Sophie Truax neutral. I have not really watched or listened to her stuff. But oh my god the Instagram algorithm will not stop trying.

This girl I used to waitress with in Austin, we moved to New York together in 2003 on a literal Greyhound bus. Shared a fifth floor walk-up studio that, when it rained, had more leaks in the ceiling than we had pots and pans. We used to get drunk and smoke off the fire escape and do “sad-offs.”

Fun write-up of my partner’s record store, along with thoughts about how the analog life is good for mental health. Plus, he celebrates being Gen X and how we latchkey kids had it pretty good, despite the parental neglect. patimes.media/featured/its...

For those outside of the general music ecosystem - If you love a band or artist and want to make their day, buy their music direct on a platform like bandcamp. Doing so typically nets them the same revenue as approx. 3,000 streams (or more). There is tremendous power there.

Die Spitz and Astro Alloy both started in Austin around the same time. They’re now signed to Third Man Records and opening for Olivia Rodrigo. Astro Alloy is uhhhh uhhhhhhh uuuuuhhhhh

Wrote a quick profile on Die Spitz, an extremely fun band that's currently on a crazy rocketship ride.

for funzies I looked up how pop songs get written and found out some people (like Max Martin) will write vocal melodies first and figure out chords later. total game-changer for my own songwriting.
