we need marxism-alluraism right now
I’ve said it before but if we want to capture a similar level of enthusiasm for a progressive social-democratic project, then it would help to articulate a clear vision of the future - not necessarily utopian, but ambitious, aesthetically informed, maybe a little libidinal

like the thing comes out and suddenly there's a disconnect between people seeing it for the first time & people seeing it with the multiple seasons' worth of context you'd only get if you were following the production, and u just get pinnacle high control group behavior from the insiders

"must self-host" is not a corner case though. for plenty of European teams whose data can't leave the building it is the whole requirement, and there open weights still decide it
If you are still on the “cheap Chinese models will take share from US labs” cope train you need to get off. US labs are now distilling their own models to compete across the Pareto frontier, so Haiku is better model than Kimi at 1/8th the cost. The only reason to use it is if you MUST self-host.

Tapping the sign. He's an AI bro but please take the claims that the project was canceled because he wanted to use AI with a grain of salt.
That being said; not seeing any direct confirmation that it was canceled *because* of him wanting to use AI. He says he thinks that it's because of possible RoI, and reiterates he thinks that calculus would have turned out better if they could have used AI.

...but, again, no actual proof they canceled the game because he wanted to use AI. You can extrapolate but I would caution against that tbh. What strikes me as more annoying is that Uchikoshi himself acknowledges how AI has put the industry into dire straits and still proceeds with ARG nonsense.

I view rubber/vinyl/latex as materials that both emphasize sensuality and dull the complications for those of us with certain proclivities. Glossiness accentuates forms/curves, creases relay areas of tension and the sounds activate some level of aptophilia that reinforces your indulgent "otherness."

A lot of people seem confused because AI both lowers the floor AND raises the ceiling. They se slop and assume thats all that's possible. But special is possible but takes effort! Don't listen to people who cannot imagine using a powerful tool to do anything but put minimal effort in.

the funniest thing i've noticed playing with this is that hour for hour (at ~1Mtok/hr) deepseek 4.1 is cheaper for the user and the planet than netflix

“Just being blanket anti-AI” and eschewing nuance is precisely the thing that stops us from solving the problem. By all means, burn the US labs to the ground. But how are you gonna make that actually happen? Might there be something useful to that end buried in the nuance you’ve decided to ignore?
