Hi, I’m A.S. MacKenzie. I write all types of horror, but the more supernatural the better. I also ground them in real places at real times to add to the authenticity. My favorite is easily the Predator species. I’m not sure yet if they are all known as Yautja, or just this last movie.
Welcome to Horror Writers Chat! Q1: #HorrorWritersChat - Introduce yourself, the horror you write, and... share your favourite horror villain/antagonist. (It doesn’t have to be a person.)
There’s belief that when people reach a certain age, their lives are often less exciting. Well, today I had a red-breasted nuthatch AND a chestnut-backed chickadee fight over my birdfeeder while I stood two feet away waiting for one of dogs to finish their business. So…I think we’re owed an apology.
It’s so awesome that the guy in charge of health for a nation is using his vast knowledge of forwarded emails from everyone’s aunt about poison in envelope glue and how body toxins can be pulled out of your feet, instead of verified and validated medical knowledge.
RFK Jr says kids should not be around cell phones because radiation from them will cause neurological damage and cancer.
@crobertcargill.bsky.social Congratulations to you, Scott, and the whole team behind The Gorge. Really dug the world building and would love to see an anthology of Hollow Men stories. Think there’s interesting POVs waiting there. Also congrats for bringing such a great cast, especially Sigourney.
Great advice. And for those who have difficulty making a fist, a closed hand strike keeping your fingers straight and making contact with your palm works, as does a heel strike with your hand back using the heel of your palm to make contact. Ultimately, just use what you can.
If you think it's a good idea to punch a nazi it's important to remember to keep your wrist flat, ensure your thumb is under your fist, and strike with the index and middle knuckle. Use your back heel to turn your hip and really get your body into it, driving from heel to hip to shoulder. 🤛👊🤜
Back when I worked in the church as a minister, I got two great pieces of advice that I’ve kept long after leaving: “As a leader or influencer, if you keep your hands to yourself you’ll never touch them or their money.” “Someone you meet will have a long memory. Be careful what you give them”
A simple guide to avoiding cancellation: 1) Keep your hands to yourself. Fans & colleagues aren't there for your sexual gratification. 2) No, really. Keep your hands to yourself. 3) Don't say hateful shit. 4) Avoid thinking hateful shit. It's not hard. 5) That's it. Hands. Hateful shit. Really.
You know how when you really want to write but can’t because of “Life™“ and so you pine for getting words out that are heavily rattling around in your head? Then, you finally get a break, sit down at your keyboard, cursor blinking ready, hands hovering over the keys, and nothing comes out? #HateThat
Just finished “Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees” by @patrickhorvath.bsky.social and @idwpublishing.bsky.social Absolutely loved it and can’t recommend it high enough. The art and story are intertwined in a way you get lost in. The world around Sam isn’t explained and doesn’t need to be. 5⭐️
Thanks, Gabino! I don’t have a book to promote, but I do have myself as I’ve been out of the writing game for my grad degree. Looking to jump back in with both feet and reckless abandon. I write horror/thriller/crime and have stuff on my site available now. Much more coming soon. asmackenzie.com
