The inclusion of a specific children and young people’s section is a huge milestone, with long-awaited recognition that cancer in children and young people is different and needs a different strategy and approach.

It’s been a privilege to be part of the Children and Young People’s Cancer Taskforce, helping to shape the recommendations that will improve experience and outcomes for young cancer patients and their families. More to come on Wednesday…

Delighted to be asked to speak this earlier this week at #ChildrenWithCancerUK Research Conference and share my (somewhat single minded and bossy) thoughts on collaboration and how much of a bigger impact we could achieve as funders…

Non-commercial clinical research (which includes charity-funded research) - as well as addressing patient priorities and developing new treatments and cures - has a huge benefit to the UK economy.

New Frontier Economics report, commissioned by AMRC and @wellcometrust.bsky.social, showcases the extensive benefits of non-commercial clinical research. It reveals the ‘triple dividend’ this research brings to the UK: unlocking growth, supporting the NHS and improving lives. bit.ly/3KrW7nf

Pleased to launch #ChildCancerSmart today, aiming to speed up diagnosis of cancer in children and young people through raising awareness with the public and equipping professionals with tools and resources to help them with diagnosis

Today, we’re launching #ChildCancerSmart alongside campaign ambassador @dramirkhangp.bsky.social - an evidence-based public and professional awareness campaign to improve #EarlyDiagnosis of cancer in children and teenagers aged up to 18 🩵🎗️ Find out more at cclg.org.uk/childcancers...

It follows several years of research, including a population-based observational study and a lot of systematic reviews, to ensure we have, for the first time, a sound evidence base and a good understanding of the signs and symptoms of childhood cancer and the pathways to diagnosis.
