Last week, Ancestral Waters, a new mural by Musqueam artist and third-year Visual Art student Summer Cannell, was unveiled at the main entrance to Buchanan A on Main Mall. Ancestral Waters is both an artwork and an invitation to think about the place we are in and the relationships that shape it.

The mural brings together salmon and sturgeon, Coast Salish currents, and Summer’s connection to Musqueam and the Fraser River. This project reflects the Faculty of Arts' ongoing relationship with Musqueam, and our commitment to carrying that work forward with care, respect, and reciprocity.
