I like reading @thepokeuk.bsky.social but some content block is required for it to be readable (although I've kept it as a minimal as possible). Now, no embeds work unless you unblock everything. Totally unreadable, and one less visitor as a result.

During Banned Books Week, it's worth pointing out that the UK have had 75 books since 1512 (one every 7 years). The US has had 8093 since 1981 (180 every year). And, yet, the US thinks we're the country suppressing freedoms of expression.

I'm surprised Jerry Hall had an issue lying in a coffin. I'd have thought she was used to sleeping with the dead, having been married to both Mick Jagger and Rupert Murdock

Quite the mixed bag for me and shows the gap in my gaming between the 1980s and the 2000s.

This was such a pleasant journey into my memories and I got very enjoyably lost in them my9games.net/en/edit

"He's always on the scene" Why did nobody ever think to investigate Fireman Sam for all those blazes? The clues were always there.

Despite being on the iPhone Upgrade Programme, I've not ordered the new phone. Not because I'm not interested in it, but because Apple has given ZERO information to those on the old programme on how they're supposed to transition to the new one. It's pretty poor support, imo

I'd not come across the Make Waves brand until the other day. They make refillable deodorant and antiperspirant. I'm aware of them because they're all over my Facebook feed, promoting their product via a simple technique - bash the competition.

Or another they compare their antiperspirant with a deodorant from a rival, claiming how theirs blocks sweat, unlike the other. Of course, that's because they're comparing different products and the comparison is incredibly unfair.

If this is the only way you can sell your product, you're loosing already. And I certainly wouldn't want to buy them from, either, knowing this is how they operate.

On one ad they talk about a nameless competitor who changed their formula and caused skin irritation (I'm not aware of any).

Ahh, nothing says "tribute" more than a web page so stuffed fulls of ads that it's barely readable. I kinda feel tribute pages should be the one place where they should not put advertising.

Considering how careful they've had to be making sure emergency alert tests were warned of in advance, because of the impact it can have on some people, genuine ones need to be a really, really, full emergency - "do this or you're going to die" kind of thing. This didn't feel like that.

A couple of years ago I was warned a local river was going to be flooded and I should be ready to evacuate. I got that as a text message from the local water company.

I'm not saying NYT's Wordle AI Bot is a bit crap but today it told me its third suggestion was much better than mine, despite mine being the correct word, and its wasn't.

If @countbinface.bsky.social wants to instantly get my vote, he just needs to have an election promise of banning anyone having a bonfire on a day like today. Finally able to open my windows for a bit of breeze and all I'm getting is acrid smoke.

Today I am being served up posts by Reform UK, GB News and Nigel Farage. Now all blocked but it's a constant stream of right wing bile being put onto my timeline. The question is - who's paying for this to happen?

David Artiss@artiss.me

Every time I have to go back to Facebook for any reason seems to justify why I stay away. Now my feed is full of right-wing bigots and flag-shaggers. Why the Facebook algorithm thinks I'm interested in Reform, I don't know.

It's either horribly broken or someone is paying for this to be put in front of people to manipulate public thinking, in the same way was done prior to the Brexit vote. I know which one my money is on...
