What really impresses me is remote editing. Oh, your code is over there? Fine, we can work with that. And fast, because it installs a remote runtime instead of treating it as a network filesystem.

Today is the 50th anniversary of Keith Jarrett's incredible concert in Köln. Exhaustion, back pain, and a broken piano met raw genius and a sold out opera house to produce a masterpiece. If you've never listened to this, today would be a good day for it. #piano

Conflicted about doing today's crossword. It would be a one-year streak. I do the crossword because I enjoy it, not because I'm controlled by gamification, right? Right??

@tiniesthacker.bsky.social How did your shadow box make this list, but github.com/TIny-Hacker/... didn't?? 😂

2024 ended strong: Cemetechians worked on calculator, computer, and hardware projects in December 2024, from an on-calculator ez80 ASM IDE to math and 3D graphing tools to a TI-84 Plus-turned-art. See them all and vote for your favorite: www.cemetech.net/news/2025/1/...

Local course installed new signs. Time for the UDisc admin (me) to finally sync up with the official lengths. But where did they get these lengths? They don't match the PDGA, and they don't match the park's own scorecard PDF... OH! Makes my job easier, I guess. #discgolf @udiscapp.bsky.social

I really like the kitty terminal emulator, but it bugs me that changing the font size affects all windows in the process. Just discovered it's configurable to affect only the current window!

With the redirector disabled, I can still access kbfs at /run/user/1000/keybase/kbfs Might try a symlink ~/keybase and see if that causes problems. My guess is that the magic of the redirector is foiled by flatpak sandboxing, but it shouldn't affect a symlink, and I'll know what to rm -f anyway

If you have a long-lived install that you've upgraded over multiple releases, you might have missed this because, once upon a time, you ran gsettings set org.gnome.mutter experimental-features "['scale-monitor-framebuffer']"

That overrides the current default, which is ['scale-monitor-framebuffer', 'xwayland-native-scaling'] To get back on the feature train, you can run gsettings reset org.gnome.mutter experimental-features

Gosh, @zed.dev is fast, gorgeous and so easy. But what it calls REPL support is only Jupyter and only for specific languages. Clojure nrepl support doesn't exist, and Zed extensions are insufficiently powerful to add it. This won't work for me, but I'm keeping an eye on it.

Also I immediately miss my spacemacs-inspired key sequences that I'm using now in lazyvim. As I understand Zed extensions, this is another thing that can't be done.

There's a beaver family living at Matthaei. I ran up and down the creekshore to snag a photo of one last evening. It's amazing how quickly they disappear under the surface when they detect an observer!
