Stuck in an 80s-90s indie rut, but there are worse things in life.

Unexpected legend at Project House. He was a little bit younger last time I saw him. #lawrence #felt #mozartestate

Things I was frightened of as a child. The witch off Lizzie Dripping Scampi off Fingerbobs The Bermuda Triangle (it makes people disappear) Ghosts Draculas The quarry in Irchester Country Park

C’mon you mighty Bantams. I was a bit scared when I saw they had Kyle Walker and someone called Hannibal but they couldn’t score pens for toffee. #bcafc

My anxious ADHD daughter who survived GCSEs thanks to Covid and aced her A levels due to choosing creative subjects has (with twelve hours to spare) submitted her final coursework for her degree.

For the past four years she has left everything to the last minute. She’s a clever (and creative) sausage though and I’m proper proud of her.

My job today was replacing some external trickle vents. The holes were in the wrong place so I decided to superglue them. I’ve just managed to remove a trickle vent from my finger with lots of nail varnish remover and I’m having a sit down instead.

I’m going to see CMAT tonight. I have heard one CMAT song which sounded like country and western. I’m very much not looking forward to it.

Absolutely cracking night at Piece Hall with my big little girl last night. Stuart was on top form. #piecehall #saintetienne #belleandsebastian

My daughter, s-in-l & grandsons have just arrived for their first ever family holiday. Made possible by 2 increases in min wage, lower interest rates, 30 hour child care allowing her 2 more days work a week & breakfast clubs allowing 8am start time at doc surgery. Thanks Labour

Gorillaz at Bradford Live tonight blew me away. This is exactly the sort of night I wanted to have when they started talking about renovating the Odeon. What a fantastic space. #bradfordlive #gorillaz #themountain

Night and Day’s recruitment and retention policy appears to be: invite someone in for a trial period when they’re short staffed, show them how to use the till, ‘don’t know how to use the coffee machine? Google it’, initially give them three shifts per week, after six months, reduce to one per week.

If this doesn’t work, dismiss them for something innocuous before they qualify for a pay increase/employment rights. Then when they’re short staffed, invite someone in for a trial shift… #nightanddaycafe #manchester

Good people of Manchester and customers of Night and Day. As a regular customer, I’m shocked to hear what an appalling employer they are - I’ve heard of two cases of unfair dismissal this week. I will be boycotting the place from now on. #manchester #nightandday #nanddcafe

Well, I could have predicted Burnham’s attempt being blocked. I’m not too disappointed - I’m pleased he’ll still be mayor of Manchester.

To top off a perfect week in which I’ve had to rush to France (including a £300 taxi journey) because my dad was very seriously ill (now out of danger), fallen down some stairs and smacked my head and caught a cold, I came home today to find that the cat had shat on my bed.

I’ve no idea what our neighbours’ impression of us is. Last year they bought us gin glasses, shot glasses and short glasses. This year they’ve got us wine glasses, an ice bucket, cocktail shaker and wine cooler. I’m going to have to up my presents game when it gets to Eid.
