Hey @cmorrell.com I saw a truck the other day with an Interachi sticker on it!
@mattstauffer.com I don’t know whose idea it was to make these @tighten.com fidget toys for Laracon but it was genius. I have another fidget spinner that I rarely use, but I use this thing multiple times a day, and I don’t even like noisy/clicky keyboards.
@tjmiller.bsky.social any plans to add support for the OpenAI conversations API? Specifically, the part where we can pass a conversation ID. platform.openai.com/docs/guides/... I’m happy to submit a PR for that… Just wondering if you had bigger plans
@laravel.com @thehanktaylor.com the new monthly changelog is a great idea!! Any chance you could add RSS support for those of us that still use old-school feed readers?
@mattstauffer.com based on your Enterprise Laravel talk, I suspect you have some experience 😆 anything you know of?
@tjmiller.bsky.social I know from listening to @slightlycaffeinated.fm that you're dealing with large volumes of data in prod 😀

Had a blast with my @phpxmsp.com pals tonight! Special thanks to @cmorrell.com and @shanedrosenthal.bsky.social for flying in to give some fascinating talks
Prompted by somebody asking how to learn the Laravel ethos, I put together a list of resources that have been extremely helpful to me: andrewrminion.com/2025/04/lara... #laravel #learning #podcasts
Tried @windsurfai.bsky.social, Cursor, and @anthropic.com’s Claude Code this week. I used Windsurf and Cursor as my primary dev environment each for 2 days, and I did a head-to-head test asking all three to fix a flaky test.
@dyrynda.au @jakebennett.bsky.social I just started the Laravel News podcast. I had my own full-time business for nearly 5 years and it was actually much harder to take time off than it has been for me as an employee.
My laptop has 16GB of RAM. By default it was using 4GB of swap, but I changed that to 8GB and it helped system performance somewhat; after reviewing help.ubuntu.com/community/Sw... I just updated it to 20GB. How? linuxhandbook.com/increase-swa...
TopHat (extensions.gnome.org/extension/52...) is a really nice menubar system stats indicator
Tilix (gnunn1.github.io/tilix-web/) looks very comparable to iTerm2. I followed this to make it my default terminal: itsfoss.com/change-defau...
Great talk by @davehicking.com at the inaugural @phpxmsp.com meetup tonight! Thanks for the reminder to step back and ask questions.
Thanks again @benholmen.com for organizing. I was hoping @benhol.men would show up too but 🤷🏻♂️
Turns out that search bar (aka Activities) does a _lot_ more: calculator, emoji/special characters search, etc. And apparently each app can integrate to add its own suggestions. @vivaldibrowser.bsky.social sure would be nice to open a search engine with the query 👀
GPaste (github.com/Keruspe/GPaste) is a serviceable clipboard history manager. I added a custom keyboard shortcut (Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > Custom Shortcuts) to bring up the UI. I just wish it would automatically paste to the current app when I select an entry. 🤷♂️
I miss @raycast.com (see bsky.app/profile/andr...). But the Super key brings up a search that at least lets me launch apps
Beartown by Frederik Backman: app.thestorygraph.com/books/822a06... I’m not a hockey fan, but this is really a story about the people, and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver: app.thestorygraph.com/books/97e514... So much of this was so familiar given my IFB upbringing, and shows how badly missions can go wrong. I also loved how she wrote the different voices for each character.
The Source by James Michener: app.thestorygraph.com/books/22b1ab... Another huge book (over 1000 pages) but eye-opening to what real life during Biblical times might have been like. For me it humanized so many characters that tend to feel mythical due to my upbringing.
Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer app.thestorygraph.com/books/d4ea68... I listened to the audiobook; at some point I want to go back and read and highlight passages from this book. There are so many things to think about especially in the age of AI about how to take care of each other.
Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson: app.thestorygraph.com/books/26206f... The title grabbed me, and the book didn’t disappoint…the author lays out the rules for mystery writers and breaks the fourth wall so many times. The book kept surprising me in the best ways.
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir: app.thestorygraph.com/books/ac3ea9... I’ve read both the Kindle version and Audible version. I liked both, but the audio really shines because…spoilers 😉
