Tonight’s movie is unique in many ways. How it was broken, how it was fixed, how frigging long it is. But it’s a triumph that - despite its length - leaves you wanting more. #ZackSnyder #JusticeLeague #ZackSnydersJusticeLeague

boxd.itA ★★★★ review of Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)How can two versions of the same film be so diametrically opposed? Whedon’s theatrical release is a disaster. This is a triumph. Not only is it an incredible film in its own right - layered, beautiful...

For my sins, I follow all the main ‘Apple commentators’. @gruber.foo is leagues ahead. Always better informed, more thoughtful, pragmatic while others are susceptible to hype. Here he perfectly captures and articulates what I couldn’t: why the HomeView is a pointless fail.

daringfireball.netHomeView Thoughts and ObservationsThere’s a real “*Why do we need this?*” question here and I don’t think Apple’s video answers it, at all. You need to think you want it if you’re going to buy it. And even if you already had a HomeVie...

Tonight’s movie was like a Big Mac: a tried and tested formula with mass appeal, produced with minimum care and no artistry. It felt like a guilty pleasure and ultimately left me wanting something better. Can’t say I didn’t enjoy it though. #InTheGrey #GuyRitchie #ConsumeOcassionallyAndInModeration

boxd.itA ★★½ review of In the Grey (2026)Ritchie is on autopilot here, operating at about 30% of his potential. But - as usual - he throws enough wealth, luxury style, violence, competence and cool up at the screen that it’s impossible not t...

💡 Why it matters Looks like the robots are learning what global B2B marketers learnt long ago: how people talk at head office differs from local markets. The words that trip you up carry the meaning: product names, category jargon, internal phrases.

✅ What to do about it Your global messaging may need localising. Before launching in a new market, show local people your approved copy, then ask them to describe your offer in their own words. The gap is where your language isn't theirs.

Remediation by headcount, a 'delivered' report about emails nobody read, and Starling's Anne Boden saying the battle for banking's future has begun. Dashboards, it seems, are optimists. In #InMarketingToday, we check the plumbing.

Apple lacks a unified vision and that worries me. What this should have been: a HomePod-like (i.e. sound quality) speaker base with a MagSafe stand that would accept iPhones and iPads. Once docked, those devices would automatically run HomeView software. I’d pay £499 for that device.

HSBC says base pay stays put, CrĂŠdit Agricole promises banking that is 'straightforward', and shoppers' agents now read every rival's terms in seconds. Small print has acquired a new reader. In #InMarketingToday, we read it first.

Staff will test a pay announcement against their payslip, new customers will test 'straightforward and transparent' against their first

Interesting post by @gruber.foo about the current state of Twitter. Like him, I sorely miss the “action” I used to enjoy there so much. Unlike him, I’m simply not willing to overlook the current owner - even if said owner is no longer being forced into your feed by the algorithm.

daringfireball.netX Once Again Marks the SpotIf you returned from exile on a desert island and took a look at X today for first time in a year, you might reasonably guess that Elon Musk got bored and sold it while you were away.

Double-bill tonight. And what better companion to The Social Network than this? Sorkin’s writing is even sharper here. Woz: “How come 10 times in a day I read ‘Steve Jobs is a genius’? What do you do?” Jobs: “I play the orchestra. And you’re a good musician. You’re the best in your row.”

boxd.itA ★★★★ review of Steve Jobs (2015)I was taken aback by the unusual structure at first viewing but have loved ever viewing since - and I rewatch regularly - because it’s all about the perfect script and first-class performances.
