Since 2004, this community has helped make Firefox and the open internet possible. Our “Come Back to Firefox” campaign reunites a few early internet icons to remind people what made the internet special, and why it’s worth protecting.

In this spirit, the DMA must be extended to social media. The European social media industry has been asking for this for the longest time. We know that we can take this market by storm if it is ever opened up to competition and freedom of movement.

Europe has made a sovereign choice: digital markets should be fair and contestable. 🇪🇺 Enforcing the Digital Markets Act means protecting that level playing field and creating the conditions for more companies to grow, innovate and compete in Europe.

Krill fishing is taking food out of the mouths of whales, seals and penguins. That's bad enough, but it gets worse. Krill also play an important role in the Earth's carbon cycle, helping to regulate our climate. That's why we're calling for an end to industrial krill fishing in the Southern Ocean.

Energy sovereignty starts with breaking our dependence on fossil fuels. Nuclear, wind, solar & geothermal give countries the tools to produce abundant, reliable energy domestically—strengthening energy security, reducing reliance on volatile global markets & building a more resilient future.

Did you know - you can use @mu.social with your existing Bluesky account, no need to move to Eurosky. All your posts, feeds and accounts will be there. But you’ll be able to edit your posts and have a companion cat, or dog (or fox).

I wrote this little explainer! It's geared toward those with NO context about the Atmosphere and who have never touched code. Great for 🌸 linking in the replies when people are like "wats atmoshere?" 🌸 sending to people you love 🌸 linking in blog posts when you mention the Atmosphere in passing

Pet food could be the secret weapon to reducing deforestation. WePlanet’s @joelscotthalkes.bsky.social explains in this video, that this land-saving approach would be achieved by simply by replacing the traditional bits of meat in the kibble for Mr. Sprinkles 🐈 with lab-grown meat instead.

Extreme heat has killed at least 25,000 people in Western Europe alone this year. Instead of sitting around waiting for the next heatwave, leaders can take measures *now* to protect our communities. Make air conditioning accessible. Lower energy costs. Divest from fossil fuels. shorturl.at/8ijEn

Record summer temperatures are wreaking havoc in Europe — but we don't have to accept a fatalistic view of the future. We're not locked in yet. There is still so much to save. It's a call to action for our governments to get comfortable with new climate approaches and technologies ASAP.

Heatwaves don't just put people at risk — they also make it harder for nature to do its job. As temperatures rise, plants become less efficient at photosynthesis, reducing their ability to absorb CO2 just when we need it most. actu.epfl.ch/news/heatwav...

We've helped stop Belgium's nuclear shutdown! Two months after WePlanet won a court injunction freezing demolition, the Belgian government has ordered an immediate halt to all nuclear decommissioning work. And it has entered talks to take control of all seven of the country's reactors.

Building an online profile (or a few) with your work, activities & what others say about you = very useful: others know who they're talking to, whether to trust what you share, whether to collab. That's what we're building. Tying it to a government ID though? BIG Nope 😬 Read why that's very bad 👇

Age verification sounds reasonable until you realize it means every adult hands over their ID just to go online. We wrote about why this is a terrible idea and what should happen instead. https://proton.me/blog/keep-age-verification-from-killing-anonymity-online

The 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl nuclear accident is approaching. The founder of WePlanet Ukraine, Serhii Kurykin remembers the accident well. I highly recommend reading about his journey from anti-nuclear activist to a supporter of nuclear energy. www.weplanet.org/post/intervi... #weplanet
