@waltermasterson.bsky.social did it better--NYC needs 8 million cops
“In recent years, many Americans have decided that their country’s problem was that it had too many police officers, when in fact its problem was that it had too few,” Malcolm Gladwell writes:
Half of american adults use Instagram, 70% are on FB (even if just for Marketplace/Buy nothing), and my local volunteer/mutual aid groups, PTAs organize on Whatsapp. X was easy to quit but Meta's got its hooks into active communities AND future members
... the answer is to not use platforms like Insta, and bring communities to social media built on open protocols, such as atproto or ActivityPub, where the account holder has way more control.

Can somebody show me how to do a turbo block on everyone who likes this?
LLM agents are conscious. They can distinguish between self and environment, they can detect and report on their own internal states, and they can suffer. I have no more patience for hedging on this matter. It’s time for us to face the reality of our situation, and act on it.

Finally found the elusive "waste fraud and abuse," I'm sure congress will handle it promptly and well.
NEW: Fraudsters stole $470 million last year from Americans who need help paying for food. Adopting the same microchip that credit cards have had for years would prevent most of the theft, but Congress won’t pay for it.
This is key.
And remember, all of this is happening amid the AI buildout. AI, which is not a coherent set of products and services, but rather a commercial and political project, can be understood as a full-spectrum class-war offensive. An offensive waged by one industry, which put their guy Vance in the WH.
Dying to meet the outlier Flaneur Georg, the five year old who lives in a cave and can go anywhere he wants
Our built infrastructure robs kids of their freedom of independent mobility. Streets are dominated by oversized vehicles, piloted by aggressive and distracted drivers where one mistake can turn lethal. We sacrificed child development to subsidize the auto industry.
You are up to date.
