I was on Insta the other day and a reel from Die Linke was talking about how Trans healthcare in ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช is legally fucked and how they're going to fight to fix it and holy shit, this is the 1st time that a political party has *ever* even hinted about caring about us and I will vote for them for Life

The previous government might have fixed it but they fell apart, and you can bet that the current garbage anti-Queer government (CDU) will never do shit about it, ever

Trying to use BSky again because despite Twitter being a big deal in my professional life, I literally cannot scroll more than 2-3 posts without being shown naked transphobia and hate speech. It's too awful even with the massive amount of filters I use to try to make it usable

Truly stellar job when Jared "fixed" GitHub, dreading what he'll do to Xbox :-/

Since I'm an immigrant to a country that absolutely *loves* paperwork, Kreuzakt is really good at handling documents in different languages For example, if you typed "Tax" into search and hit "Search related docs" and you have German documents, it'd search "Steuer" too

Super easy to set up even on an old laptop or Mac Mini, is free and Open Source, and I think it's super useful, Paperless is great but I think this is a great modern version that is way smaller and faster. Hope you all like it!

Kreuzakt is a small, super fast app that is a more modern version of Paperless, you throw all your documents into it, and now they're instantly searchable, and you can attach Claude Desktop to it via its built-in MCP server and ask q's about your docs github.com/anaisbetts/k...

An absolutely psychotic thing to put into print in what is ostensibly a reputable journalism source, even as an opinion piece.

Anyways, if you're wondering "gender dysphoria, that doesn't seem That Bad, why don't they just live with it?", women in Russia are now making guides on how best to perform surgery on themselves, without anesthesia That is how much it hurts to be the wrong gender!

Here's a thing you probably didn't think about - if you go super aggro on adblockers (especially if you set up DNS-based ones like Pi-Hole), you're probably blocking all of the feature-flag infrastructure too like Statsig

This means that you're basically at the very very end of the line when it comes to seeing New Stuff, usually the opposite of what tech people want! Worth going through and trying to targeted allowlist some of those feature flag sites

Sometimes it feels less "Claude is being used at the frontier of long-running agents" and more "I am knowingly leading Claude into an unwinnable suicide mission"

A really cool "feature" of Linux is that since all of the secret stores are somehow a Desktop Environment feature, every time you switch between DEs all of your apps get corrupted and you get to log in again on all of them. For Slack, that means receiving like 6+ dumb Emails! ๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿซ

Man, GitHub frontend perf in 2025 makes me so sad - it literally causes my computer fans to spin up on nearly every non-trivial page: the repo view, any PR This is literally a static page. Nothing is moving. The number of renders should be Exactly One (1)!

My hottest take: the Subway Takes guy is Good, actually, and even if some of the takes are Bad that's the whole point, NYC is a whole city full of all kinds of people living together and that's pretty cool and great

I finally finished Split Fiction today after getting kinda bored with the last third, but holy shit - the finale / ending is absolutely insane in terms of technical artist / SFX work, truly *stunning*. And even despite the last part lull, the game is incredibly creative and novel. Great game!

/me Feeling like garbร ge but pull myself together so I don't cancel the lunch chat I have with someone /Restaurant literally plays Elliott Smith on the radio Come onnnnnnnnn

A cool thing about Germany is how every business will have a contact form / Email address that you'll take a lot of time to write a very detailed message into, in formal German, and they will absolutely never ever ever respond to it in any way

Yet every single time, you'll forget and be like "What a relief! A contact form I can fill out!" And every single time, they will completely ignore it

This was important to us not only from a moral perspective, it had huge practical consequences too - Israel wanted to force our child to have my partner's name, which would mean that she would have different names in different countries; you can imagine how fun that would be at border control

Anyways, if you've ever tried to use RxJS with ESM and it gives you bizarre errors, first go back in time and kill Hitler cause that's time travel rules, then go and stop the JS people from inventing ESM, but if you can't do that, use RxJS 8.0.0-alpha.14 cause it works now

Boy is it really weird and gross that the consequences that fall out of laws like COPPA et al applied to YouTube, is that an insane amount of watched content by school-age kids is watching twenty-something adult men playing games intended for children

Non-integer scaling, (preliminary) HDR support - cool, good! Any kind of remote desktop host just being completely boned, whole classes of software impossible to write, you can't even register a global shortcut until 2024 - embarrassing, unnecessary!

An underrated usage of AI, cursor-agent remembers all of the obnoxious syntax and stupid paths that systemd services and mounts use, "make this script a service and put the unit file in the right place"

A Cool Thingโ„ข๏ธ about your company using a Monorepo, is that if you do it right, you can bring down all of engineering with one PR! ๐Ÿ˜ญ

"it's just nature and science" except we need the full power of the State govt to enforce it You know, like other scientific facts do

It'd be super cool if I could actually write code instead of fighting with node modules, packaging, and ESM all day every day, I kinda liked that first one better

If you're one of those absolute sickos who use QuickEdit on Windows and miss it on every other platform, they *just* added it to Ghostty! Get a recent build and add this to your config: right-click-action=copy-or-paste
