Hi pixel friends, it's been a while! Been busy with PhD stuff. Finally got to a point where I can slow down a little, so thought I'd do a #pixel_dailies. For the #broccoli prompt, I drew a guy with a broccoli haircut. Curly hair is tricky!

I really like the contrast between Swerve and Prince Nana. The combo of a serious, intimidating wrestler with a silly dance shouldn't work, but it's one of my favourite entrances. University's gone back, so this will be the last of these I do for a while. #AEW #pixelart

My PhD has officially begun aaaaa! I won't be doing as much pixel art as I have over the break, but I will keep working on my art skills. I have one big piece of fan art to finish, and then focus will shift to game assets for my PhD project. Exciting times!

Just a quick one for the #lighter prompt. I made the flame slightly transparent, but I think several layers of transparency might have worked better if I had more time. All good practice! #pixelart #pixel_dailies

Here's a late one for the 4 colour #flowerbed prompt. This was tricky! I'm used to using a much larger pallette. The final result isn't much like the succulent from the garden, but it is identifiably a plant at least! I left the background transparent for extra contrast. #pixelart #pixel_dailies

Pixel art practice continues with another AEW wrestler, Toni Storm. I don't think I got the hands quite right, but her expression was a lot of fun to draw! #AEW #ToniStorm #pixelart

I tried to go with a fairly simple design for #band, but this one took a while. So many colours are needed to make a convincing gold, and the transparent stone was also tricky. #pixelart #pixel_dailies

Since I replayed Ocarina of Time recently, Majora's Mask was next. Enjoying it so far! There's so many little quality of life things in the sequel, like much faster text and better item management. Just finished the first temple and had to draw the Deku Princess. She's so cute! #pixelart #zelda

Here's a late one for #neonlights . I don't think she ended up looking much like the stock photo model. Amazing how much a single pixel can change a face! Good practice all the same. #pixelart #pixel_dailies

Post a game you remember playing that no-one else remembers. Sonic 2 on Master System was only released in PAL regions, and is different from the Mega Drive version. It isn't the most obscure game I've played, but it was really foundational- a game I completely fell in love with.

Despite this, it still entranced me. That Sonic movement felt so fluid compared to other SMS titles, and making progress was exciting. I hope the SMS games get ported one day! A Master System collection like the Mega Drive ones would be fun.

It's a really difficult game, with no rings for bosses and few lives . The chaos emeralds are hidden in the levels, and are required to see the final level and true ending. The Game Gear version was more wide spread and even more difficult- the small screen size required lots of blind jumps.

For the #pipes prompt I tracked down the cover art for Pipe Dream, which was pre-installed on the family computer in the 90s. This was a tough composition! Everything is orange and green, which made it hard to get enough contrast to be readable in pixel form. #pixelart #pixel_dailies

I drew Luchasaurus from AEW. The tattoos were tricky and the composition looked better without them, but it wouldn't be authentic to leave him bare! I'm trying out canvas sizes for my next game and I might go smaller. This looks nice but took a long time! #pixelart

I have a nasty cold and ended up playing through all of Dispatch over the course of two days. Fun game! I really liked the mix of telltale style storytelling and the dispatch minigame itself. This is Sonar, the best kind of bat man. #pixelart

In the original version of Alex Kidd in Miracle World, there was a #rice ball at the end of every level. Later releases replaced it with a hamburger! #pixelart #pixel_dailies

For the #marble prompt, I drew a scene from Super Monkey Ball. This was a tricky one! I had a whole background drawn out but it looked too busy so I got rid of it. I probably should have reduced the number of platforms too! #pixelart #pixel_dailies

I always found the warrior #dice from #DiceyDungeons quite charming. Trickiest bit was trying to get the circles right on his head! #pixelart #pixel_dailies

Just finished my replay of Ocarina of Time. It came up as inspiration for a few pixel art pieces, so it was time to play again. For a long time this was my favourite game, and I still love it dearly. It's a modern fairytale. It was the game that made me want to become a game developer.
