Worth a read— 36% reduction in staff during this regime. Three weeks after the Trump administration announced the largest expansion of hunting and fishing opportunities in USFWS history, new records reveal FWS has lost more than one-third of its staff between 2024 and 2026.
The stories coming from Nepal-Tibet are heartbreaking. Triggered by a huge landslide (still being assessed), is this yet another example of extreme weather events? Climate change is bad for people. abcnews.com/Internationa...
Climate change is real— and human activities are making our climate and weather more erratic. Here’s another report detailing those impacts— this time how utilization of fossil fuels is strengthening a “super” El Niño event. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Some real world dynamics: Lake Powell at record low levels and Extreme El Niño coming that will bring record moisture. Puerto Rico suffering from drought a couple years after a devastating hurricane. Areas burned severely by wildfire being victim to devastating floods and debris.

4. Climate change is bad for people. Research is clear about the impacts of extreme weather (especially heat) on human health. In addition, spread of illness and impact on chronic disease is likely. Air pollution and food insecurity are examples of how vulnerable populations are at increased risk.
Conservation is one solution! By conserving critical habitat and imperiled lands, we create buffers to extreme weather that are good for human health, the economy, and protect infrastructure. In addition to lessening human-related climate impacts— we need to invest in conservation projects.

2. It’s as much about wide/wild changes in weather patterns as it is about ”global warming.” Weather is less predictable with warmer warm periods, colder cool periods, more severe drought, more intense flooding— all impacting hurricane severity, wildfires, beach erosion, water management.
3. Climate change is bad for the economy. The loss of infrastructure and emergency response alone is expensive. When you add in impacts to crops, real estate, and loss of work time due to severe weather the damage becomes clear. www.cbo.gov/publication/...
Holding my breath on border wall destruction at Big Bend… and elsewhere. At Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge, a TRO is in place until August 27. In Arizona, the construction continues on the Tohono O'odham Nation lands.
I have visited sites on federal and Tribal lands where a wall makes NO SENSE due to topography and natural resource concerns. We need to keep fighting. Please speak up and show up if you are in one of these areas.
Reposting due to relevance. While our firefighters have not been cut as much, support resources continue to strangle our operational capacity. On top of that, climate change is real— and directly hurts people and the economy. We need to tell this story. Conservation increases resilience.
CLIMATE CHANGE IS REAL …and we are not prepared. Floods Wildfires Hurricanes All are made worse with climate change. All are improved with conservation.
Let’s talk #SecCookieMonster, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum. As Governor of North Dakota, he showed some respect and a desire for productive relationships with Tribes. He also had deep ties with Oil & Gas. But conservation still mattered.

In Interior, he has been a pawn— or worse, a lieutenant. But why? He has put oil & gas above all else. He boasts about defacing monuments in DC by covering them in gold. He is allowing critical habitat and cultural sites to be destroyed for the border wall.

*Sigh* Removing habitat means death for many species. This is really bad. news.bloomberglaw.com/environment-...
